Is fakie hair safe to boil?
« on: November 27, 2013, 09:24:32 AM »
I just got a fakie Drink 'n' Wet and her hair is bent from being in a hair tie for some time. I heard that fakies can't be straightened like normal MLPs or the hair will melt but is hot water an option?

You will probably find that the quality of the hair is less than a regular MLP - cheaper nylon. The quality of the hair is is going to depend on how it will react with temperature. I have heard of fakie hair melting together but likewise so will MLP hair if exposed to too much heat. If you are worried and if its just a crinkle I would try the hot water dip method first. You should be fine with water just off boiling but if you are concerned simply start of at a lower temperature and work your way up if the lower temps dont work.

I have never actually boiled one of my fakies so I am not sure what would happen.
