LordBlumiere's Custom Ponies!

So I've been dipping my toes into the customizing waters since about 2008, and I thought I'd show off the ponies that I've customized as well as my current works in progress!

The first two ponies I made were Zydrate and Baby Zydrate, based off the movie Repo! The Genetic Opera. I made these in I believe summer '08, and they're certainly not my best work, but they taught me a lot about customization. I can't remember who Zydrate used to be, but Baby Zydrate was a BBE Baby Shady.

The third pony that I made was for a friend and completed in 2009. Itim Sorashi was her birthday present, and though we are no longer friends I'm still glad I made this pony. I had to cut slits into the body to insert and glue the wings--a hard task, but I used it again on my next custom. Itim was made from a G3 Rainbow Dash.

The fourth (and final completed) pony I created as an art project. Hector Eschel was completed in early 2011. I learned on creating him that the clay I'd been using up til this point was absolute crap for working on ponies, and unfortunately it's been bubbling underneath the paint on him However, Hector remains one of my favourite ponies that I own for his sheer uniqueness. I can't remember what pony I used as a base.

And now we come to my current project! Eviru's been sitting around since 2011 and it's only now that I'm coming back to finish him. He's based off a character that a friend (same one I made Itim for) created, but he was always going to stay with me. I just finished up his painting last night and I'm soon going to order the hair that I need to finish him and the next custom I'll be doing. I can't remember what pony I used as a base, but I know it was purple so... if that helps at all o~o

Thanks a bunch Teddy! Just waiting on the hair to come in for Eviru... And last night I completely wiped and dehaired the Rarity I'm using as a base for my second project, Pixel Perfect uwu

Very neat!  I love the vibrant designs you work with.  For a good clay, you might try Apoxie Sculpt, amazing stuff!

Thank you Colorscapes! I've been meaning to get my hands on some, it's apparently great for BJDs too, so it would serve a double purpose for me hahah!

You have some really great designs!

You might also try airbrush paint? (Ie Createx)  it is easy to thin so the paint doesn't clump up

Oh sure!  Honestly the suggestion came from Hannaliten originally-

I used to have the most awful time with thick/clumpy paint- and not all paint thins very well.  Slightly thinned airbrush paint works AMAZINGLY- you might have to do more than one layer- but it ends up looking flawless if you are patient.  (Now I just have to work on painting a straight line...)
