Opening cases Did they change something?
« on: November 17, 2013, 04:45:27 AM »
I am confused. Ebay is stating that you should open a case if you didn't receive an item 30 days after the "estimated delivery date".  What if its already been nearly a month and the last date of my estimated delivery is past a month already?  When is it okay to open a case if an item doesn't show up? I want to give the item plenty of time to get to me, but I don't want to wait too long.

This is only a question about ebay policy and opening cases. I don't want to turn this thread into a hunt for my seller, my auction and suggesting they are a bad seller and looking for information on them.  There is no reason at this point to even go there.  I am hopeful it will show up.  So, please do not post that type of information as its humiliating to sellers especially when they can't control the mail.

They did not change anything to my knowledge, it's always said that. The rule of thumb though that most buyers and sellers know is you actually have 45 days to do so and after that you can't. So whatever you do, do not let 45 days lapse.

Have you contacted the seller? Is it international? I think it's OK to open a case now if you feel it's been long enough.

Yes I am in contact with them and I am willing to wait until the last day of the estimated shipping time I was given which would be the 25th that still within the 45 day window.  They have asked me to try and wait a little  longer and seriously, I don't mind waiting. I just wanted to know exactly how long I could. Yes...international.  This is the longest I have ever waited, but its just one of those things. If I never get it at least I hope for a refund. I don't think its fair for me to have to wait forever, so I have basically stated I will only wait that estimated delivery time.

For international shipments, depending on where it's coming from, it can take a couple months, especially if it's caught in customs. If your seller ends up refunding you and the package shows up, you can always repay.

Once I bought some glasses from Canada and they took 6 months to arrive and I just live across the border :/

Yes I know and I really don't want to open a case, but at the same time if it doesn't ever show up I really can't take the loss.  Especially now with things that have happened.  I would always pay my seller back. I remember years ago I ordered something off of ebay and never got it.  Six months later and long after a refund the usa sold item finally arrived. I paid the seller and she was in shock. LOL
