Blue Haired Mexican Peppermint Crunch?
« on: November 12, 2013, 10:11:58 AM »
Hey everyone! I recently bought this gal on eBay, since I noticed there was something odd about her and took a gamble. Got her for $6 so no harm done anyways. Sure enough when she arrived, her hair was totally BLUE!  And not like slightly discolored, her whole mane and parts of her tail are noticeably a bright sky blue.

The weird part is parts of her mane and most of her tail are an odd shade of purple almost if the hair had been dyed purple and now has faded back to it's original blue.....I have no idea what to make of it. She has a factory mane and tail, and no markings on her feet. The other odd thing my friend pointed out to me is that she appears to use Tootsie's head mold, NOT the US peppermint crunches mold  I have detailed all of this in the photos below. I tried searching and only found one other post, and that user opted to cancel the transaction before she ever received the pony.

Any help or info would be appreciated! Regardless, she is a lovely pony and I am totally smitten with her either way  ^.^. On to the photos!

The head is clearly meant for a pony with a slightly larger neck, and the plug is extremely hard to get in and bulges a little

Matching head molds, the ears and muzzle are longer like Tootsie

I have found that mexi ponies with purple hair/bodies fade something awful!  Cool fade variation :-) a lot better than the usual blotchy to grey-ness that can result

She looks so pretty!

I do think she is faded though, you can see the original hair colour at the base of her tail washer. I had a Mexican Bluebelle through mu hands who had a mane and tail faded to a similar colour.

As for the wrong head, that is very neat, I have not noticed that before, but that is not surprising! Mexican Baby Blossom and Cotton Candy have the baby Pegasus head instead of the right head for that pose. Also the baby Pegasus ponies (blossom Pegasus) has the Baby Cotton Candy head! Other countries got mixed up heads and bodies too.
