Ohhhhhh man, waiting for ebay feedback makes me so nervous!!
« on: November 13, 2013, 09:59:55 AM »
:yikes: Each day I get more and more nervous because my buyer hasn't left me feedback!

I buy from ebay now and again, but I haven't sold anything on there since 2006.... But a few weeks ago I found a rare item by chance and paid $10 for it, so I put it up on ebay... it ended at $76!  :bigups: I was completely excited. I've never sold a pony or anything for that amount!

My buyer paid immediately when the auction ended, so I boxed up the item in bubble wrap in a nice stiff box and sent it Priority the very next day. I went to the post office during my lunch break at work. :P

That was Nov 5... and my buyer hasn't left me any feedback yet. I'm so nervous about it getting there safely!

My buyer has 860+ feedbacks and their account name is their real life name (or at least it's the name on the address I sent the item to) so it doesn't seem like they're the kind of person who causes trouble or shuffles through multiple accounts... I guess mostly I'm just nervous that the item will get lost or damaged in the mail. I check my ebay account every day after work hoping to see feedback left for me.

I guess this post isn't really asking for any help, just I've been feeling so nervous for a week, I needed to tell someone.  ^^; Do you think it's normal for an item shipped on Nov 5 to not have any feedback yet? How long is normal to wait for feedback?

Let me tell you, now that I've been on the seller's end, from now on I'm going to leave feedback the moment I get an ebay item, when I'm the buyer. I would feel horrible for dragging out someone's nervousness like this!

I've never sold anything but I buy on eBay often. I have two sellers who haven't left feedback and it probably been over a month. I know that's a little different though.
As a buyer, I try to leave feedback the day I get my item but sometimes one will slip my mind. Especially if I'm not getting back on eBay for anything around that time.
Maybe you could wait until the 15th then send a message checking to make sure they were satisfied with their item?
Did you check tracking to see what day the item was delivered?

As an eBay seller, I have to be honest that I have a lot of buyers that don't leave feedback at all. I do send a message to them when I ship out the item in hopes that will encourage any feedback and response and a lot of time it does. But it doesn't work all the time. It wouldn't hurt to drop a message in a couple days to see if they are happy and to double check it has arrived. My husband sells high priced items and has yet to receive any feedback even though all the items have been received. But unlike me, he doesn't message his buyers when he sends the items out and it really does make a difference.

Oh, I didn't realize it's the policy of some buyers not to leave feedback at all! XD Well now I feel a little silly for worrying. Thanks guys!

How long do you think I should wait until I can feel like I'm 'in the clear'? Like, is there a time limit on how long people have in which to complain? I think for Paypal it's 45 days....

I totally forgot about checking the tracking number! I put the post office receipt somewhere in my room, I'd better go dig it up and see.

Thanks guys! ^_^ I feel tons better already.

I haven't yet sold on eBay, but when I buy, I always leave Feedback on the day I receive my item. It just seems like the thing to do, and literally 99.9% have gotten stellar positive from me.

I'd agree that you should check the tracking #, and you could always message the buyer when they receive just as a follow-up.

If you're nervous about whether it arrived, just look up the tracking number.  Buyers don't always leave feedback, so don't worry :)

oh you sound so nice : ) I agree with bluerose. Lots of buyers don't leave feedback, I have to admit I don't always leave feedback cause I get ponies sent to my dads girlfriend in the uk so I often don't see the ponies I buy for months and so by the time I get them the time has run out to leave feedback. I use to just leave 100% positive feedback without seeing the ponies but one seller (a collector too) lied so bad about the condition of one pony and an expensive one to it just put me off leaving good feedback until I see the pony. I do how ever message the sellers to say thanks when I get them even if I can't leave feedback

The time frame to leave feedback is 60 days from the end of the listing or date of purchase. The 45 days is the time frame in which they can open a case against you. So while the 45 days may pass they can still leave you a neutral or negative up to 60 days after the transaction. I don't mean to scare you, just answering your question  :P

I wouldn't worry to much. I would think at this point if there was an issue they would have contacted you already. There are some who just do not leave feedback or do not leave it till the seller leaves it. If you want you can go under their feedback and click Feedback Left for Others. It will show you the last time they left feedback for someone. It can maybe give you a little bit more of an idea on what your dealing with.

*hugs*   Try not to worry - its normal for people on ebay not to leave feedback right away (even though its frustrating ) . It is also normal for people who are unhappy with the item to let the seller know quickly - so no news is usually good news ;)   Checking the tracking is a good idea so you know if the item has arrived safely already or if there has been a delay and it hasnt been delivered yet (wasnt there a holiday in the US recently? that makes delays sometimes) :awake:  and if its been delivered then a polite message to the buyer to make sure they are happy with the item wont hurt either (and will hopefully prompt them to remember to leave feedback for you)  :)  Some buyers - especially of they've been really busy IRL, or they've been doing a lot of other buying/selling  take a while before they leave their feedback too, so it may just be that they havent had chance to do it yet

I know how you feel! I just sold some items worth $800 to someone and she didn't leave me feedback til 2 weeks after it was delivered. I was very nervous since it was such a high priced item  One time I didn't receive feedback from a seller til like 3 months later  I was surprised to see a new feedback because I hadn't bought or sold anything in a long time. I was like, "huh, I bought that months ago!"

Half the time buyers will not leave me feedback, but most sellers usually do. One time I saw an auction where a guy plainly stated do NOT leave him any feedback because he doesn't care about it because the ebay feedback system is flawed. So he doesn't want any feedback. Thought that was strange XD

I usually wait 3-4 weeks and then I'll sometimes message the buyer and check in to see if they're satisfied. They usually get the hint that you're asking for feedback and will leave it for you ;) A lot of times people just forget :)

This is so true, I am a power seller on eBay and I find that about half of the people actually leave feedback. Some leave it later, even had a few leave it way later but rest assured if they are angry or unhappy you usually hear from them right away. If they have buyers remorse you usually hear from them with in a week. I always strive to go above and beyond with my service, even shipping same day and it is frustrating when people can't even take a second to acknowledge it but I never let it get me down ;) I just do my very best for every sale with the hopes that it will shine through on the buyers end :)

Sometimes when I buy on ebay, I won't leave feedback until seller leaves it first. And as I seller, I mostly leave feedback first unless it's a new buyer. Have you left them feedback yet?
