Smooze question
« on: November 06, 2013, 09:27:11 AM »
I got in a lot with a very nice mimic. She has a small amount of smooze near one symbol, what is a good way to get that out? I have been running hot water and my fingernail on it, but is there another way to deal with that? I am worried about using too hot of water as she is still a very lovely green and I do not want to fade her color with too hot of water....

Any suggestions?

You wont fade her colour with hot water. And honestly super got water and something to scrub the plastic is the only way to move it. You need the very very hot water to basically open the pores and allow the dirt which is inside them to come out. I use the side if a butter knife as I find that easier than scraping with nails but you will probably also have to use some kind of light scourer [I use a nail brush] to initially wipe over the area.

Ah I was afraid that because she is prone to fading the use of hot water would cause her to fade. I have seen hot water fade some fading pink hair before so was just a little worried...

I haven't ever heard of hot water fading pink before :( Maybe if the colour is not colour fast some of the dye could come out but its not even a colour I have ever come across having that problem before either - thats such a shame that happened :(

Hot water shouldn't fade pony hair - maybe the pony was repinked with a water soluble dye? o.o  First I've heard of it.

It happened with two ponies I have a Steamer and a G3 minty were I used really hot water and noticed the water in the sink turning pink...made me worried about hot water on fading pink at all, so I use luke-warm or cool water on them. I am glad to hear that is not common though so maybe it just happened to be an issue with just those two...Thanks for letting me know that, lol, now I don't have to be so edgy about it!

You can use a little bit of cream of tartar with dish soap added to the hot water to speed up the de-smoozing.  Just be sure to rinse her VERY well afterwards, or she can get the cream of tartar stuck in her pores instead, and can have revers-o-smooze.  :P
