Restringing doll legs tutorial?
« on: October 13, 2013, 04:34:56 PM »
I thought there used to be a tutorial, but I'm not seeing it. Recently I moved my Breyers to my new home. I'm not much on tack or riders ect but one was the princess of Arabia set with the horse and Arabian costume and rider. During the move the doll fell off and her legs came off. It looks like the band holding them rotted a long time ago. I want to restring we to sit on her horse again poor girl.

Its super easy to restring a doll. First you may need rubber bands the right thickness and size or even rope elastic the right size for the doll.  You will need surgical clamps as well.  If its just the legs a thick, tiny rubber band would work well you would just hook it onto one leg and use the clamps to pull it through to hook it onto the other leg.  Elastic works much the same way only you must pull it tight before you tie it and use the clamps to hold it at that tight position to knot it.  If you doll doesn't have any way to hook the elastic or rubber band on then you will have to make something.  I usually use zip ties hooked onto a cut out circle I made from a plastic coffee can lid or something.  It has to be flimsy enough to fit into the leg, but strong enough to not come back through with the pull of the band.  This all depends on what doll you are working on. I would just go to youtube.  It has tons of tutorials. Just do a search for doll stringing and try to find a doll similar to what you have. :)
