The animation was done by Premise Entertainment, and the animators included some of the folks who worked on Brother Bear for Disney.  It looked like a Brother Bear meets Animals of Farthing Wood style.
I was wondering that as imp used to watch Brother Bear.  Well done and loved the hare to bits.  Those ears!  Thanks for posting.  No clue about the company it is for but so well drawn in age of such badly draw things it made me smile.

oh gosh. I want to click it so bad, but I'm at work right now so I don't really want my boss to come in and say "why are you crying?" and me try to come up with a lie that I was NOT on the MLPArena watching videos! I will come back to watch this.

It's beautiful. The animation reminded me of "Watership Down". I've never seen "Brother Bear", so I couldn't comment on its likeness to that movie.

Having said that, the purpose of the ad is totally lost on me. Every year, I enjoy the John Lewis Christmas ad, but I never go to John Lewis. ;)

I love this advert. Although I too have never been to John Lewis! This year's Marks and Spencers Christmas advert is just so cheesy! Nothing in comparison to this.

I have watched this so many times it's not even funny.

Here's a making of video if you haven't seen it http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/john-lewis-christmas-advert-watch-2790058

My friend who works in the animation industry was kind of baffled by why they did stop motion with this rather than just doing traditional 2D and layering the animation over backgrounds. The way they did this was SO time consuming, because they had to create all the artwork they would for the traditional 2D animation, and then turn it all into little cut out figures and shoot it in stop motion. The final effect looks nice, but it probably could have looked just as good with half the work, haha.
