Peaches and Cream Barbie in box-advice for selling? with pics
« on: October 20, 2013, 10:16:14 AM »
  Hi All,

I'm looking for advice and possibly a pc on a Peaches n' Cream Barbie in box.

I had this Barbie as a little girl but of course she was given away when I thought I was 'big'  So then a few years ago I ran into this one at a yard sale and bought her to relive a bit of my childhood!  I ebayed her out of curiosity and realized she might be worth money, and so I've not taken her out of her very damaged box.

I've finally decided that keeping her is a little silly, since I discovered pony collecting and prefer it.  But, as you can see the box is very damaged.  Do you think she's worth trying to sell? As in, what might I be able to get for her?

Also, will there be issues selling her as is? I can't improve the box, obviously, but I don't want ebay drama.  Until now I've never had anything worth over 20.00 to sell, so I didn't worry about it much.

Here's a pic, but I do have more if needed.  The clear plastic is split and the box has some water damage on the bottom, but her skirt seems undamaged and all accessories are in their own seperate plastic still tied into the box back.  As far as I can tell this box has never been opened- everything is still anchored to the back.

Of course, I'd love to sell her to someone on here if anyone is interested, but I'd also really appreciate just some selling advice.  Thanks!

I have no idea what she's worth, what I have now realized is that although I was spoiled and got tons of toys as a child, I never got the specific Barbie dolls that I asked for :(

Which led to me doing things like:
Taking my moms $2500 engagement ring to kindergarten and trading it for a crystal barbie :P True story, I thought it was like the ring you get for .25 from a gumball machine lol
My dad didn't find it nearly as funny and I couldn't sit for a week afterwards

Hah!  That's an awesome story, Mikeysgrrl   I think I might also need to start making sure I put my ring way up high, although my daughter just got a pet fish, so she's pretty happy for now.

Was Crystal Barbie the silver one with bugle beads everywhere? I might have had her...or was that a holiday barbie?  Ah, the 80's.

Oooh, Peaches n Cream Barbie! She's lovely :inlove: I regret not picking up the reproduction when it was available in stores :P I'm a tad picky when it comes to doll boxes, but there are others that wouldn't be so picky :) I have no clue about her price because she seems a bit all over the place on ebay! I'd say set her at a price you're comfortable with (like $25 if you don't want to let her for under that) and then see what happens, but to make sure you post pictures and accurate description of the box. And write something like "this is NOT for picky box collectors" That's usually what I put in ebay auctions when the boxes aren't in great shape :) I think you'll still get interest in her whether her box in bad condition or not since she's a popular doll. I would keep her in the box and let the owner decide if they want to debox her :)

Crystal Barbie had the gown that was this beautiful iridescent white, shimmered like Mother of Pearl, she came out in the early 80's...

Hubby has promised to get her for me one day, who knows maybe for my birthday next month lol

Radha - I'd be interested in her.  :)

Mikeysgirl - OMG, that's hilarious!  Did your family get the ring back?  I heard a similar story a while back about a child who took his mom's ring to preschool and lost it.  Here's another one to make you go :  My high school fencing coach was literally a world and Olympic champion, though always very modest.  Nevertheless, his bratty son got sick of all the fuss everyone made over his dad.  So one day he flushed his medals down the toilet.  Most were recovered, but a few were never found.  True story.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

Wow Kelly, that's a crazy sad story.

As for the ring, I guess my mom noticed it was missing and they ended up getting it back, I don't know if the other girls mom called or if it was our teacher that called to notify where it was, I just remember that my dad gave me the belt and I literally couldn't sit for a week :P

Looking back on it now, it's hilarious lol

My sister had Peaches and Cream Barbie and I think we both had Crystal Barbie.  I know I had both Crystal Barbie and Ken, he was my first Ken doll.  That was the year we got three barbies each for Christmas as part of out stocking presents!  We were both shocked at that.  Mom said that the Barbies were really cheap that year.  I guess that was true or there was some extra money going aroung that year.  Anyway, thanks for bringing back the great memories and good luck selling her. :)
Thank you to SquarePeg for my beautiful avi.

Yeah, but it didn't seem to bother my coach too much (though maybe it did at the time).  It made a good story.  If I remember correctly, the Olympic medals were recovered, though some of the world champ ones weren't.

My best friend had her and I was so jealous. Years ago I bought her. I've since sold all of my Barbies but her and one other. I think I paid around $30, but that was years ago. I would do a very detailed description and photos.

I sold mine in a perfect box for $80, so I would probably go $25 or so on her in that condition box.  She was also my first Barbie, along with Dream Glow.  Memories!

Even though her box is crushed, she should still bring some money because of how popular she is.  I honestly would place her around the $35 range, as her loose complete outfit alone usually sells for $20 or so.

I going to agree with the others and agree with $25.00- $35.00, though you she might go higher to the right bidders/buyers.  There is some good advice from the others here with them saying to mention every little thing that is wrong or be considered damaged in any way.

Even with a damaged box she's gorgeous!

Yep, a lot of 80s flashback people would pay for one with a broken box. I remember this one, Sindy was more popular than Barbie round here, but I remember catalogues having this one, Crystal Barbie (I now have the frock, but not the black Barbie I want to go in it!) and the one with the white and red heart dress. I had 'Pink and Pretty Barbie' but hate pink, so I wish I'd had the Peaches and Cream one or the other two aforementioned!
