Glue help... again
« on: October 14, 2013, 09:00:19 PM »
I have been reading threads about glue. I saw Aleene's fabric fusion mentioned quite a bit for rehairing, so I decided to get that brand.
However, I could not find the exact glue people were talking about and picked up Aleene's Super Fabric Adhesive. If I read the package I would probably not have bought it, but I didn't even think about it at the time.
I was thinking about testing it on a pony.... but it has some warnings on it: May produce numbness or weakness, skin and eye irritant or cardiac sensitization. Contains tetrachloroethylene, a cancer agent based on tests in laboratory animals.

First question I had is, do other Aleene's fabric glues and/or other glues have these warnings?
Also, have you/would you use this Aleene's Super Fabric Adhesive specifically?
And, do you have a recommendation for a safer glue for re-hairing that is water resistant?

Maybe I'm just being a worrywart.  ^.^

I did want to let you know that when I make customs or just do a rehair, I use my low heat glue gun and that seems to work perfectly :)

Although I can't provide you with information about that specific product or brand, I'm sure someone will come along that can definitely shed some light on that for you :)

Thank you two for the suggestions.
I decided not to even open the Aleene's Super Fabric Adhesive considering it says to avoid inhalation. I am just venturing a guess that it is fume-y and probably not good for the small space of a pony head. I would also like to be breathing when I'm doing my crafts!
This is what happens when you do not look at what you are buying very well. ;)
Someone gave me some glue and borrowing glue gun so I can try that out! :D
