Rattling magnet?
« on: September 11, 2013, 03:20:41 PM »
My new G3 pony has a rattling hoof magnet.  I'm unsure if this bodes ill for her, or if it's just a regular thing for G3s? I hear a rattle and I think rust! Should I be trying to cut it out? Or is this normal, and I should ignore it?

There is a concave in the hoof that the magnet sits in, so you won't get rust inside your pony that way. But if you already have rust inside your pony, or a loose washer, it will attract to the hoof magnet and settle in the bottom if the hoof :) the magnet sits inside a plastic cap that is quite easy to get off, but it is normally a snug fit. i have never had one that rattled before :)

The magnet rattles? Are you sure its not something inside her foot that is rattling?

When I move my metal forceps back and forth over the hoof magnet, I can hear and feel it moving back and forth, following the forceps.

So you mean the magnet is a little loose in the holder and therefore the magnet is "rattling" in its space. Sorry! I am just trying to understand lol...and clearly not doing a great job of it!

Haha, it's alright! But yeah, seems the magnet is loose. I guess I just found it a little weird, what with the horror stories of G3 era glue...

I also got my flashlight shone against the pony at the right angle. I do spy rust! Poor baby's head will have to come off. *puts on safety goggles and revs up a chainsaw*

LOL - good luck getting that head off! You may well need a chainsaw with some G3s.

Ok I think I understand what you mean - I would guess that there is probably simply no glue on the magnet inside the cap. I vaguely remember hearing people come across glueless magnets in the past but I dont think its a common occurrence...or perhaps we just havent checked out enough ponies!
