I was just wondering about this. I just got 2012 fan favorites set and I really want the Minty set! I could possibly give the Nightmare Moon to a friend I got in to ponies.

Yes I think I was wrong - a couple of people with the set have now said that there is not difference between the releases at all. Kind of makes sense - due to the sheer number of NMMs which are always floating around Taobao.
