I had no idea kinder eggs were illegal in the USA! For how long has that been?

It's based on a law from the 1930's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinder_Surprise#Prohibition_on_sale_or_import_into_the_United_States), so most likely the entire lifetime of Kinder eggs.

We have had the Spongebob Kinder eggs in stores for at least half an year now. Why the same surprises are sold for that long time? Is it like this in other countries too..?

No idea, but in my area they change every 5 seconds and then come back like a year later.

Haha. I always try to check if there are interesting Kinder eggs available at markets and fairs where the candy sellers sometimes come from abroad. I've heard the cute tortoises were available in some European countries lately. I would have loved to find those.

I didn't know they were illegal either. I knew they were hard to find. My sisters ALWAYS gets them at Christkindlemarket Chicago and we have found them in stores occassionaly.

the spongebob eggs are available here in austria too! but they are NOT made by the same company as kinder eggs (if they have a yellow wrapping). the kinder eggs are all wrapped in red/white foil (although there are brand new ones - the "girl line" which maybe will be pink)

They look more like Filly Princesses than MLPs, imo. Kinda cute though.

They are the real Kinder eggs. I have spotted the yellow ones too, though.
