DIY Foam Board Pony Risers Tutorial

I finished 3 of them already, but without any felt. I will post pictures when I am done. I am doing my whole bookcase. I ran into a problem though. I had originally bought my foam board at Walmart and had checked the size. Then I needed another foam board, so while in Target I grabbed another one without checking. The ones at Target were 2 inches shorter (28 inches)! I needed the extra 2 inches since my bookcase is 32 inches and the foam board was 30 to begin with. So I had to go back to walmart to buy another 30 inch one. I will use the Target one for base pieces then. I also ran out of hot glue. I am not too swift with a hot glue gun.  But it is working great so far other than the foam board mishap.

Those risers are so neat! Once I get display cases I will need to make some.

Here is one of mine, without the felt. (The only felt they had at Walmart were nasty colors, no green, so I am waiting.) Mine are different dimensions so they will fit on my shelf. I also used 4 base pieces instead of 3 because it was so long. I will take more pics when they are all done.

Finally finished all 6 of mine. Whew. Here are the amazing results. Solved my running out of room crisis. Of course, now all my books are stored under the bed or in my closet.  I made them all different since I had different size shelves on my bookcase.

I recently finished doing some for all my shelves after finding big 30" sheets of foam board at the dollar tree~ I don't have pictures of the 14 new ones I made but hear is one I did a while back for my blind bags out of pink foam board-

You can fit about 100 ponies on it but I only placed on every other step and loosely so you could see the risers. this one was for a 11 1/2" deep bookshelf and its 10" long. the tops for each step are 1" while the fronts are 1/2 each, there are a total of 10 rows- for anyone who wants to replicate this as I know blind bag displays are tricky tomorrow when the light is better I'll see if I can snap a shot of it all filled up~

Aw, cute! I love the pink and your dimensions look perfect ^_^ Thanks very much for sharing them! I wish my dollar tree carried the foam sheets, they just have regular poster board here.

I did a display for my blind bag ponies too but I didn't have any more shelf space so I made a wall display for them. I didn't do a tutorial on these since I had to employ power tools, that's probably more involved than most people want to get

I'm curious, for a brown shelf what would be the best color to use? I don't really want to use green and I rather not felt (so I'm using construction paper \o/)

I also had to modify it because I don't want to buy more foam board to waste (yay cardboard!)
