Ink on my new car interior
« on: August 14, 2013, 01:03:42 PM »
Whilst riding in the car today from a meeting, I was writing some notes, and my ink pen slipped and marked a little stain on my new car's interior.  :(

It's a blue pen ink stain and it's a light cream interior, so super noticeable. I know there are a lot of remedies and removal methods online, but I wanted to hear from you all, because this board never steers me wrong!

When we got our furniture it came with a kit for removing all kinds of stuff from our couch... The brand is called Guardsman... A large black ink stain on our new couch came right up, we'll not point fingers as to whom left the open pen on the couch... http://www.guardsman.com/en/find-a-retailer.html#

In a cup of water, take a tablespoon of dish soap and two teaspoons of white vinegar, mix, and rub it gently on the stain.  Then rub it gently with a wet rag.  This worked on my car interior when I had a pen explode in my passenger seat.

Oh vinegar, is there nothing you can't do?

Scared to try these as my car is my baby, but we'll see!

You could always try sunfading. ;)

Seriously though, I would try the dishsoap and vinegar Eviecorn suggested.

I have some vague memories of my mom using acetone to remove stains on a car's fabric seat before, and she was in the car business, so you might give it a try.  However, this would have been in the 80's and I don't remember the color of the fabric.

If the other methods fail I would try dabbing some acetone on in an inconspicuous place and seeing how it goes.  Good luck!

If you do not feel safe with that you can always stop at the dealership and see what they have to say. I hope your able to get it out. I am the same way with my car. I always worry about were I am going to park and if some one is going to hit my car......LOL I know I have issues. But my car looks very good for its age :)
