NEED EBAY HELP!
« on: July 30, 2013, 05:56:57 PM »
This is the first time someone on ebay has ever opened a case against me -_-

I sold her two MIB/NRFB Barbie dolls - Princess of the Vikings and Romeo and Juliet set. I gave her a combined shipping quote of $14.50, but I was off a bit. I sent her $1.55 to compensate. My dolls have NEVER been opened! We had nice messages going back and forth, I shipped them in two days even though my handling time is 5 and I even sent her a little extra back for shipping.

"I was so excited to get the package, the Vikings doll was a good condition and to my satisfaction but the Romeo & Juliet dolls were damaged perhaps during shipping. I'm disappointed that the items were not in a damaged condition and it looks like the box has been opened too (again not sure if this is because of the shipping damage). Since I paid more than $14.50 and got one item that was damaged, I believe the shipping cost should be refunded to me. Thanks!"

It's not my fault if they get damaged! I wrapped them good and taped the box good and made sure they were cushioned. How do I respond???

Did they send you pictures of the damage at all? Or of where the boxes were supposedly opened?

What do I do now though? Do I respond to her or ebay? I don't know what to do :freak:

Also, I should mention that in my descriptions I said "all sales final". Does that make any difference with anything?

I'm confused about what she wants. Does she want a refund for shipping? Or does she want another set of dolls? It said,

The buyer requested:
A replacement item

I would respond through the case, do not send anything outside of EBay's messaging system to her. Just request pictures from her of the damage and that a replacement item is not an option.

It honestly does not matter in EBay's eyes that you wrote that. They will request she return it to you, at her expense. She has no choice in the matter because Ebay does not force partial refunds unless you agree to it. And they will not pull the money from your account if you agree to accept the return.

I also would not refund her anything until she either one provides pictures and or returns the dolls. I know it sucks when someone opens a case but try not to fret about it. Just respond promptly and with as much information as you can through the dispute process.

  those are both quite valuable collector dolls MIB, no? at least they were when I got mine (especially the Romeo and Juliet set)!  Do you think maybe she has some buyers remorse? or wants to try and get them even cheaper by claiming they were damaged/opened?   :what:   ...although ....if she said in the case that she wants a replacement item thats really odd. I doubt anyone has a stash of these dolls as if they were common/currently still available
Ponylady gave some good advice - please do let us know how things turn out, and I'm sorry that you're having to deal with this

Well she definitely got a steal on Romeo and Juliet XD I paid $70 for them when they were first released and she bought mine for $31 :P She hasn't responded yet, but I'll definitely let you know what happens!

Also make sure she sends pictures of the actual box being damaged, not just the product. I always think the worst in people (bad, I know) but perhaps she had a damaged Romeo and Juliet doll already. I know it's way out there but my mom taught me to trust very little in people. It's just weird that one is fine and perfect and the other damaged?

Good luck Sweetie!

I completely forgot to ask her to send pictures, but I will when she responds back. Actually, I'm the same way :P I've already thought up the scenario of her trading out some already damaged dolls for the mint ones I sold her. I don't think I'd have any way of proving if they were my original dolls so I would really never know. But people are sneaky so I wouldn't put it past ebay crazies.

She STILL hasn't responded. What happens if she never responds? Does the case escalate anyway?
