MY QUESTION TO YOU: should I open the card/packaging? I sooo want to!

Go ahead and open her if you really want to. You paid for her and you should enjoy her. Congrats!

First of all congrats on your purchase! :squee:

Ultimately it's your decision. However.

You have probably just paid in excess of.... I'm guessing more than $60-70 for her.... If you open her, she will be worth $10, with all her accessories.

Why waste $60 when you can get another loose mint complete one for $10 or less ;)

I wouldn't open it, but it's really up to you.  I forgot all about her story.  She was a little evil, lol!

If you really want to open a G1, I suggest you buy one that's in a plastic bag. I opened a MIBag pony and it was a really great experience, and I didn't have to feel bad about destroying a perfectly gorgeous card/box (not that I'd ever open a boxed/carded pony if the box was in decent condition). Plus, you can feel good about freeing bagged ponies! I haven't seen much damaged to boxed/carded ponies before, but my bagged girl has some faint marks and HORRENDOUS hair from being tossed around in a bag for so many years.

Not everyone agrees with me, but I never see anything wrong with opening a bagged pony. Its not like bags are pretty or nice to display (and like I said, they can cause damage).

If you just want an open Moondancer, you should just buy a minty lose one. :) I mean there's no guarantee she's even mint in that plastic bubble (not to mention how much her value would plummet). I've heard of ponies being opened (on purpose or like falling off the card/post damage/idiot sellers/etc) and surprising their owners with flaws.

Yeah I had forgotten she had a little mischief in her! :) It was pretty cool to read part of her back-story.

Thank you all for your comments and advice! I think I will leave her as is for now. Besides, everytime I look at her in her card/packaging I just feel like a kid at Christmas again (like someone had mentioned). I think I wanna make that feeling last! ;)

Haha!   I love that Moondancer was mean.  That stuck with me throughout my childhood.

I've heard stories of people opening them MIB and discovering stains on the other side from being pressed against cardboard.  That would be my biggest concern.
