Question about NPB...
« on: July 23, 2013, 11:04:25 AM »
Ok, I know a lot of complaints on here are about non-paying bidders.  I don't really understand why people bid and then don't pay.  It seems to happen a lot.  Isn't there some kind of penalty for NPB that discourages them from doing this?  Is the possibility of them being blocked the only real consequence for bidding and then not paying?

They can get their account suspended or deleted from eBay and sellers can block people with too many NPB from bidding on their auctions. I have mine set to the highest you can which I believe is to block anyone who has had 2 NPB disputes against them within a year. I don't understand it either though. If you aren't sure you want it or you don't have the money then just quit clicking! LOL

Yes, this is absolutely correct, I would suggest changing your setting to block bidders with 2 or more non-paid items, also always open a non-paying bidder case against them, that is the only way ebay will be able to track if they are not paying for items. The case will ensure you get your final value fees back as well ;) if they are thought to be scammers that are just bidding and not paying to be a jerk than ebay will absolutely suspend/delete them, but it is pretty much up to the sellers to report that behavior.

I have no idea why there are so many NPB's as of late but your right there is.

EBay's policy is basically "three strikes" and your out.  The UPIs stay on their record for a year, so they have a nice long "time out" to think about what they've done wrong  :)

I am like emery and blondee, I have my site preferences set high.

* Don't have a PayPal account   (99% of the scammers don't)
* Have received 2 Unpaid Item strike(s) within 12 Month(s)
(automatically blocks proven deadbeats)
* Have a primary shipping address in a location I don't ship to
(blocks foreign countries from bidding)
* Have 4 Policy Violation report(s) within 6 Month(s)
* Have a feedback score of -1 or lower (that's minus 1)

And if they are set properly - you can go to that same area and click to see the buyers who were automatically blocked! It's kinda funny.  :biggrin:

I have all that stuff blocked, and I just recently got 4 non-paying bidders. One of them, I opened a case for non-payment on day 8. Then on day 12 about a half hour before the case was going to close in my favor, they paid.  >_< They wasted all that time and then paid at the last second. They got no consequences for it other than I blocked them from bidding on my items in the future. I really do think eBay needs to do more about non-paying bidders or even super late paying bidders. I would request immediate payment, but I am trying to build my feedback up. Once I do get my feedback higher, I am going to change my listings to require immediate payment. This is just getting ridiculous. No one is paying for the things they are buying.

Also, I didn't know you could see who was blocked! That is so cool! I just looked at my history, and I have a ton!
