I can't see the image. :(

Nevermind, I realized it's because it's linked from FB and I can't view FB from work. :P

I like the spike colors
tip: try to smooth the edge where the clay meets the pony

Congratulations on your adventure sculpting ponies.  It's a challenge to be sure isn't it? :)

Tips: Did you use any armature for the tail?  If you use a piece of wire or a bit of metal mesh it helps to support the sculpture over time and prevent breaks and cracks from forming at the stress points.

i  was trygn to smooth it out but the clay either ripped or bunched up. also.it like  left the clor of hte clay on the pony. is there nay way to prevent this?"

Sarah lol yes it is! but its fun. and no i didn't. i wasn't sure how to get it to stick.. do you just stick the wire in the pony?  but i'll remember that.

That kind of clay is it? I've heard that a little dab of water or rubbing alcohol will do wonders when smoothing clay.

I'd say using tools could help also.  Something flat and thin to smooth just because it's less bulky than a finger.  I often use toothpicks, exacto knives, etc in my sculpting as well as my tools.

As far as armature it really depends on the piece.  For something like this I would have threaded it into the body, made a knot to keep it in place and then sculpted.  Some people cover their armature with florist tape or similar products for better stick and to keep any sharp edges from getting them as they work.

As with anything it's kind of trying a little bit of each idea and just finding out what you like and what works for you. :)
