Shipping from Netherlands - advise needed
« on: July 14, 2013, 06:38:55 AM »
I am in the middle of a private sale for a rather rare and expensive, non-pony item. The seller is in Netherlands. His ebay feedback is not exactly stellar, but that's due to items not arriving as described.

As it's a private sale and gamble - there will be no recourse if the item arrives in a different condition than stated (or is there?), I'd like to at least make sure my item reaches me. The seller has informed me that EMS is not available, other express courier options are expensive and the most economical and reliable shipping method is Post NL - track/trace mail.

I'd like to know if this method offers tracking until mail is delivered to recipient or only up to the point it leaves Netherlands?

Also, are there any other shipping options available that are both economical/reliable that I can ask the seller to look into?

I just don't want to get burned out of EUR2,00.00

2,000 EUR? What are you buying??

Seriously though, I'm not sure on this one, this is extremely tricky, in the UK, we have track and trace, and can offer up to £500 insurance. Since this item is so expensive, I'm very uncertain as to what your options are.

Either way, a Netherland member should be along soon to help you out! Good luck with your purchase!

Ok, you are buying something very expensive, i guess?

I'm in the Netherlands, POSTNL w/track n trace traces your package also out of the Netherlands, but it's very vague. You cannot see the exact location, the site shows a bar and it will show where the package approximately is. Ouch, my english isn't good enough to explain it very clear.

For such high priced stuff i would advice PostNL shipping with insurance. Is expensive, but at least you have insurance up to 5500 euros (signed for shipping = insured up to 500 euros and you're highly above that.

Well, i hope this helps a little bit :)

Hi Hokus, thank you. I have a query. If insured, and I don't receive the item how can the money be collected? From my PO or does the seller have to get the money for me from Post NL?
