Eye rust in a BBE
« on: July 13, 2013, 10:13:44 PM »
How do I deal with BBE eye rust? Honestly... >_> I kind of want to take the eyes out entirely and sculpt less scary ones, but she's not nearly baity enough to justify it. She has a bit of eye rust, tail rust, and some cut eyelashes--that's all.

MLP Preservation Project site has a really interesting note on cleaning the rusty BBE eyes:

Hope this helps. :)

Rust remover works really well for rusty eyes :)

I just pop the pony face down in the remover, leave it 5mins and then scrub with an old toothbrush. If it's still rusty, repeat.

Make sure you rinse her off really well, I usually give the pony a though clean to make sure all the remover is gone.

Good luck!

Aww I love BBEs! For eye rust, I normally use Rit Rust remover, just dip the tip of a pointed cotton bud into the solution (dont touch it! I learnt the hard way ) Use the cotton bud to clean the edges of the eye. This method would work if the rust is really minimal and has not stained the vinyl.

Good luck! :D

I use an old pipette to get the drops of rust remover right in to the corners and then I soak little cotton pads in the remover and put them over the eyes...kind of as if they are at a spa :P

Then I do the toothbrush scrub after the pads have been on for 5 to 10 mins.

The cut eyelashes would make me want to take her eyes out. Not to mention they are super creepy :yikes:

You can use colas as rust removers, by the way.
should be perma-moderated
