I can't wait for this set to come out. If it is Lyra, then she is the only duplicate for me. And if it is Minty, then that's a double bonus!

I don't mind helping people get this set as long as they don't mind the ponies being sent loose. Last year the box was so huge it'd be a nightmare to mail :)

Give Cadance and Shining Armor to my penpal in Germany ^_^ (wish me luck ...I have no idea how international shipping works Xs)

Expect it to cost more than shipping within the US, and to take longer to get there (my parents sent gifts to German friends before, standard shipping, and it took a month).  You can rush the shipping, but the price goes WAY up.

Dark Green Lyra is the only one we haven't seen yet- I'm thinking they might have swapped her for Minty B?  Or at least that's what I hope.

I'm glad about the inclusion of Shining Armor in the set since he was not readily accessible to all- but including Lyra or Cadence doesn't make any sense except to cheap out.  Although- if they were just releasing Lyra in a slightly darker color- it makes even less sense.

Yup! This is what I have been wondering for a while now. Fingers crossed!

Or perhaps the new babies we have seen would make more sense in the context of a "show favs" pack?
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

You are right but again I think sometimes they use this as a bit of an excuse. For merchandising and marketing purposes, when you are promoting a little girls' brand, then selling a retailer a product called "Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash" is much more marketable than selling something called "Surprise & Firefly". Yes its a little sexist, yes its a little dumbing down...but in the world of marketing its all about easy perception of what the product is, who its for and ultimately making the brand desirable. Double barrelled or girly or light and fluffy names work for this line.

Just want to jump in to say that this happens with boys' lines, too; when Hasbro was selling Zoids model kits in the US about ten years back they changed some of the Japanese names, presumably to be more distinctive or evocative.  Salamander became Pteramander, Gator was changed to Gatordus, Hammerhead to Sledge Head, Saber Tiger to Zaber Fang.

I find it kind of interesting that this name issue seems to have cropped up fairly recently, not just with ponies but with other Hasbro lines like GI Joe; whereas a lot of the Joes from the early '80s had ridiculously simple names like Clutch, Grunt and Flash, more recent characters have more distinctive names - but even so you've got Sparks and Rook alongside Big Lob and Tiger Claw.  (There was also apparently a Cobra guy named Firefly around the same time G1's Year 2 was in production.)

I dunno, I'm mostly just flapping my lips here, but I find the psychology of toy marketing and brand identification sort of fascinating.

More on-topic, I think the name Bubblecup is really cute for Drama Pony, but if anything she'll probably be called Ditzy Doo.

I've noticed a pink Cadance with pink wings popping up on eBay...perhaps she's the version in the series but we have yet to see darker Lyra and Shining Armor with blue hooves. :)

I have been seeing him all over ebay

:)

Not sure how much it was, but I believe the first set was also sold in Canada :) I'm not 100% sure, though, sorry ^^;.

indeed! I saw a bunch of them in a Canadian TRU yesterday, actually.
