So, I picked up a rather...special...Dainty Dove in need of some love, and heavy duty paint remover, a couple of weeks ago. Her cleanup has gone rather well, but I realize that once her new hair arrives I'm going to be in some big trouble.
See, Dainty Dove is one of the G2's with moving legs. In between her legs is a turning mechanism. Here's the best pics I could take of it:
It will be necessary to remove the legs in order to put in a new tail. The problem is they are both connected to each other inside the body by that mechanism.
I've been examining the mechanism for the past few days and have thought of a few ideas:
First, come on here and see if anyone knew the "proper" way to take apart the mechanism without breaking it, or marring the pony.
Second, slice the pony's hiney in the most inconspicuous place possible to pull out the leg mechanism whole. After installing the new tail plug and reinserting the mechanism glue it back together with vinyl glue.
Third, slice one of the legs apart from the mechanism, pulling them out, then replacing the tail, and then trying to re-glue the severed leg to the mechanism.
Any info or advice would be much appreciated.
