So I went thrifting today...& found ponies.

I am in a similar position.  All I ever find at garage sales/ thrift stores are G3s.  I buy them because they are kinda cute and I know others like them.  They aren't my favorite and I would LOVE to trade them for G1s and G4s.

Well it looks like I am going to have to haul tail to the thrift store tomorrow!

I'm a big G3 collector, and I'm interested! In fact, I just traded a bunch of G1s and seaponies for G3s and a couple Monster High dolls. I'm a weirdo, but I just loooove the colors of the G3s!!

I'm most looking for Party Cake and Parasol!

I pass up a LOT of G3 ponies at flea markets and thrift stores. I find them everywhere, even more than fakies. I do not collect them and do not want to be "stuck" with them. I have picked up a couple that I liked the color combination of and such. I do keep an eye out for the "rare" ones though.

UPDATE: I went to the store this morning about 30 minutes after it had open and the ponies were gone. Zilch. I should have gotten them but I guess they weren't meant to be with me. Hopefully they're with some sweet little girl who is thoroughly enjoying them. Least now I know there is quite an interest in G3 ponies.

Oh and after that I went to second-hand children's store and found some smaller versions of the G3s (I don't know what you call them? They are between the size of a McDonald's toy and the original pony sizes - anyway, there were 3 in a bag and the store wanted $5.99 for them...I passed because that's expensive for them in my opinion. They also had a Pinkie Pie stuffed toy (that I think plays music?) - but I just wasn't excited about that either.

I just love my G1 ponies!!

Unless there was a super rare G3 in there I am sure you didnt miss out on too much. Although G3s are of course still popular and plenty of people collect them, they can sometimes be a tough or long sell. The vast majority will hover anywhere from $2-4 with some store release over that and some who you even struggle to move on for $2.

As evidenced here some people will trade G3 for G1, but I would say you will not find a lot of people with that stance unfortunately.

If you manage to grab some in the future you would perhaps be better either selling them individually or as a lot in order to raise some pony $ to buy a G1 :_

Yeah well like you said...it's probably best that I passed them up.
