Tips for storing/displaying ponies?
« on: June 14, 2013, 05:50:08 AM »
Do you have any tips for me to store or display my ponies?

I live in sunny, humid Singapore, and currently, my ponies are being displayed in my bedroom, on the shelf fixed on my head rest. I feel really bad for them sometimes, as again, Singapore is VERY Sunny and humid!

Is there much that I can do to improve their current situation? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I think that your doing the best that you can for them. As long as your have air conditioning as keep the place around the same time they should be fine. Also have them not in direct sun light. That can damage them. We can take great care of our things and they will still age.

Maybe some one else has some better impute that I do.

No direct sunlight is the best maxim to stick by - plastic bleaches and becomes brittle very easily so if you can ensure your ponies are not in the direct line of sunlight that's a helpful first step. Also dont let dust built up on them - it can also break down plastic, especially the nylon of the hair and if its really dusty for a long period you can find the hair actually breaking when you brush it. And if its possible to keep the air dry-ish - ideally with a dehumidifer - even just running a handful of times a week that should help.

I live in Houston Texas which is very hot and humid in the summer. I keep my ponies upstairs in the office/guestroom on open shelves.  I've had most of them a few years and they've been ok.  I agree the most important rule is to keep them out of sunlight.
