If there's two things in life that never get boring to talk about, it's cat videos and dreams. Mine have been a special brand of crazy lately, but I can't be the only one who dreams about lovecraftian lake squids crashing Draco Malfoy's cabin party or a new high-class beverage called 'beer and raeka'. And so I turn to you, amateur oneironaut, and beckon you to post excerpts from your dream journal here for the amusement of both myself and others. Here's an excerpt from my own collection to start us off:

The Drifter

Had an odd dream last night that I was on some sort of city bus that ferried the souls of the dead to the afterlife, driving through a dark tunnel lined with orange lights. I wasn’t the driver of the bus, but I was well-respected and a little bit feared among the other passengers. Some sort of scraggly lone wanderer kinda guy. The bus stopped for one woman but the passengers wouldn’t let her on, even though she had every right to board the bus. This was bad, because if the bus didn't pick you up you'd be trapped in the tunnel of purgatory for the rest of eternity-or at least until you went insane. There was another woman on the bus who was apparently immune to such punishment if she got off the bus, but she was a doody head and refused to leave, so I kicked her out myself and let the first girl on, all the while ordering everyone to play fairly when choosing passengers. I woke up after that, happy to have helped a poor soul escape eternal damnation.

So what have you been up to last night? :silly:

Here's my first entry!
[/u]A few nights ago I had a dream that I was tied to a chair and Matt Smith (who plays the 11th Doctor on Doctor Who) made me watch him eat earthworms and he was chewing them with his mouth open and I had no choice but to watch it. (I can't get the image out of my head) I really need to stop thinking about weird stuff.

I don't keep a journal, but let me tell you, if you want some messed up dreams try falling asleep watching Food Network. Any and all conflicts are solved over dinner, everyone is talking about cooking regardless of what they're actually doing, and my brain turns Jamie Oliver into Gordon Ramsay. :inlove:

Not that there's anything wrong with Jamie Oliver...:sheepish:

I keep having the same dream about a house. It's an impossible house, like the Winchester Mansion. There's something on the top floor I need to get (don't know what) but I can't make the stairs go up. I always end up somewhere else.

I've had this dream about a dozen times that I remember. It's kind of driving me mad.

My entry:

I work at a nursing home in real life, so when I started dreaming about certain residents there, it doesn't shock me. But, in my dream, i lived WITH one of the residents, in a cult dwelling. We all shared a house, sectioned off with sheets and cardboard. Every one who lived there knew something was up, sometimes the leaders like to show off their power.  How they do that is they have a cattle prod, but instead of it having prongs, the end with the electricity was shaped like an old timey microphone. In my dream, it was so powerful it would dissolve the flesh off of wherever it was pressed.

So, I went to check on the old lady my family lived with (my RL resident), and she was laying there on the floor, her head resting on the end of the bed, blood spewing from her abdomen. Needless to say, she didn't survive. I ran back to our room, bawling. I knew the leaders were somewhere, watching. Which made it even creepier. I gathered up my kid and my boyfriend, some clothing, food, and my aunt came to pick us up. We left the compound, went to my aunts, with her two kids.

Even there, we weren't safe. It felt like they had power over the whole world. But, my mother, my aunt and I all decided we needed to try and act as normal as possible. For the sake of my son.
We took everyone to a water park! It was located in a giant lake, but when we got there, the water park rides were working... but they were all groaning and creaking and rusted back and forth. (That is another fear of mine, things underwater, things in water like rides but they're nonfunctioning, and abandoned parks.)  I obviously would not let me son on them. But we all played in the water.

One the ride back home, we were being followed. But, it was like only I was aware of it. I knew it was the leaders of our cult.

We went back home, climbed into bed. I don't know hwo long we slept for, but I woke up (in my dream) and knew they were in the house. I was so paralyzed with fear, I couldn't get to my son, I couldn't move. I could hear the electricity crackling from the prod, getting closer and closer.

When I woke up, I still could not move. I could still hear it getting closer. But I was awake! I couldn't wake up my boyfriend, even though I was trying to make noise.

I have dreams like that almost every night. :(

I don't keep a dream journal although i should cause i get some amazing ones.

for example my Resident Evil dream. I was the main character and we were running through an abandoned shopping mall full of zombies. I knew that i was the main character and couldn't die or feel pain so i kept doing stupid stuff and getting the other NPCs to save me and stuff.

I remember dreams really well from when i was little. the wet paint dream was horrible when i dreamt it but now i think about it it makes me laugh.
I was walking down the high street in my home town and i stopped outside a shop where they had lots of "wet paint" signs outside and some tins of paint. I accidentally kicked over a tin of paint and suddenly a huge tidal wave of neon green paint flooded the town! people were running around in panic and shouting "weat paint! wet paint". haha. i had to run away and climb onto my bed (because kid me's logic is that my bed was the safest place) but the green paint kept creeping under my door. then i woke up. XD

i have some amazing and hilarious and weird dreams sometimes. XD

I only have nightmares anymore.  I don't want to relive them when I'm awake.  I miss having normal dreams because I used to have wonderful ones.  A dreamless night is a good night these days.

Sorry to hear so many of you are having bad dreams. I'd try to offer advice, but dream interpretations in and of themselves are so varied and capricious I fear I wouldn't be much help. Hugs to you all instead! And dream journal excerpts (with names changed to protect the innocent)...

Watchmen Style

First had a strange dream about the season four premiere of MLP, which was a continuation of last season’s Scootaloo episode because subconscious. Then I was on some sort of hunt for monsters that looked like the Vancouver Olympics yeti with a group of people I don’t know that were flying around in a flying car. We descended into the caves to look for some, and I killed two before the tables turned and the last cartoon yeti used a gun made out of a donkey kong barrel. I escaped somehow and the dream shifted to more ponies, this time about a down and out yellow pegasus who wanted to be a wonderbolt. She trained with RD’s help, but still failed to get in due to another really exceptional pony stealing her sunshine. Suddenly, in true Saturday morning cartoon fashion, there was a disaster at some sort of clock tower and the sad little pony saved everyone when the other pony (which was a purple pegasus with a white perfume puff hairstyle) was too afraid to. And so, the yellow pegasus proved herself to be worthy all along and was made a wonderbolt as well. Roll credits.

NOT! The dream shifts again and I’m coloring the clock tower from the previous dream in a coloring book really badly. In fact, that’s all I’ve been doing, coloring things I’ve seen in my other dreams, like the car and yeti monsters. My companion sits down to help me and keeps screwing up my crappy art even further. I apparently wanted to color the tower in a ‘Watchmen’ style? The next thing I know, I’m in the entryway to a local stadium and there’s some rap star there with huge sunglasses that I couldn't care less about. He has this ‘research’ thing going on, gauging how well you can run after drinking an energy drink, then how well you can run after drinking ‘beer and raeka’. So my companion goes ahead with jogging and I’m hesitant but decide to go too. I take some beer and raeka, which is like Bailey's and beer mixed together, and is apparently all the rage among celebs these days. I keep screwing up the recipe at the mixing station and have to hurry before I run out of time to do the run. The liquid morphs into lemonade-like stuff that still tastes kind of like beer, and I drink it from a water bottle as I run through the building, down the hall, past crowds of press swine and business meetings. Then I wake up, thankfully without a beer and raeka induced headache.

I dream of all sorts of things but I have a whole world I have mapped out biased on dreams and right now it fills 3 mini  books.  I can say it is inhabited by all sorts of creatures and people some from video games, movies books etc. The rest of them are ones I mad up on my own.

Well today, I had to start work at 2am for an extremely important job that a rep was flying to Holland with so, last night, naturally, I dreamed about that.

Well, so start with, I was at work with the night shift who were mostly comprised of people I went to school with. They were working in various sections of the factory and were working on jobs I had never seen or heard before (either in real life or in dream world).  In my department, there were about 6 people on this alternate night shift (weird since we don't run night shift in RL, and if we did, there'd only be 1 or 2 people on it) all working on one job which had over a hundred thousand circuit boards on it (again weird because in RL, we'd never have capability of running such a huge job).  Anyway, seeing as my department was covered, I went out into the shop floor and started pushing work through.

I was in one of the clean rooms when I saw one of my old school pals being shouted at and slapped across the face by one of the supervisors. I went over and sacked the supervisor - something I certainly don't have the power to do in RL.  All of the people on the shop floor were then quite scared of me because I had sacked this guy and I was usually on day shift so I must (to them) be important!!  So I was there running the factory when the night shift ended and the day shift started.  The MD sent me a text message asking me to come up to the executive suite.  So i went up to the room which doesn't exist in RL and the MD's wife (who also works as head of Sales here in RL) gives me this credit card so i can spend in the executive suite (which was basically this huge posh shopping mall) because I am apparently good at being bossy

I'd love to have this dream again, since my alarm clock woke my up in the middle of it  >_<
