Question/disappointment about Picture Day Abby
« on: June 05, 2013, 11:06:09 PM »
So I finally got around to buying a Picture Day Abby for my collection yesterday. I opened her up today and I was disappointed. She looked great from the front but when I pulled her out her hair was a mess. Some of it came out and she looks almost bald in the back. I know they use less plugs in areas but her top hair isn't covering it well. Is this something normal for this Abby doll or did I just get the short end of the stick with this one?

It's apparently pretty common for PD Abbey to be thinly-rooted/plagued by bald spots. Mine sounds about like yours, too, if that's any comfort. Combing/washing some of the stiff styling gel helps; then you can fluff her hair out more to cover her scalp better :) (Or display her with her back against a wall! My other solution XD)

I was hoping that wasn't the case. I was thinking about rehairing her or adding some more hair but I wanted to check first. Thank you Zombelina for the quick reply.

I didn't realize it was common with her.......I must have gotten lucky with mine.  No problems with her hair at all.

Mine had really thin hair with several large bald spots. My PD Cleo also had bald patches, but it wasn't quite as bad as Abbey's hair.

My PD Lala is great! Well, bad box hair, but after some combing she looks lovely. My Cleo seems okay as well, and my Spectra has TONS of hair. Maybe they saved all the PD hair just for her... :P

I've still got all my PD ghouls in their boxes:(  At this point, I wonder if I'll ever get around to de-boxing.  Hope mine are all okay!  But I hear this complaint alot about the PD line.

There were alot of complaints about DC Lagoona too when she first hit stores.  I think they fixed her hair later on though.  Crossing my fingers they did the same with the PD line.  I bought them really late in the game.

Sometimes it pays to wait, maybe

I pulled out my PD Abbey again just to take a closer look and she has quite a bit of hair.  I really must have been lucky with getting a good one.

Bald patches, in part caused my her hairstyle (at least on mine). I plan to rehair her? But haven't gotten around to it. Which is terrible, because I mainly liked her hair.

I received a Picture Day Draculaura in a lot I bought on eBay and her hair is so oily and clumpy.  There's also a noticeable gap between her bangs and the rest of her hair on one side.

There are no problems with my PD Abbey either.  I had bought a PD Spectra at one point and the only problem she had with her hair is that it was extremely uneven all in the wrong places which resulted in me having to trim her hair to waist length.  Once that was done she looked great.  The doll I have with the thin hair problem is Scaris Abbey, but that is probably due to the side ponytail hairstyle.  No matter though, she is getting re-rooted
