Question - Any pony things to do in Toronto?
« on: June 04, 2013, 06:52:25 PM »
Hi guys,

Just a show of hands, how many of you are in Toronto? I'm visiting my friend in Quebec, and let's say she's been busy, so I am left to entertain myself. I feel like this is a good opportunity to see other parts of Cananda.

Also, are there any pony things to do in Toronto? Montreal's Value Village has a wonderful plethora of McDonald ponies and sometimes I find a G3 pony here and there. The neighbourhood shops here also carry heaps of stolen mold fakies - amazing selection, so it's been kind of fun, pony-wise.

Anyone free to meetup and hang out together?

Ok, number one Sqirmy, YOU live on the wrong side  and I live near toronto but Quebec is kinda far from there...unless you're flying out of T.O...anywayn I'd be more than happy to meet up with you and we could go thrifting! There are all kinds of places there as well as a Goodwill by the pound outlet. We always find G3's and stuff at different places when I go with my sister!

The one thing I remember from my visit to Toronto - sadly this was over 20 years ago - They had a mint Streaky and Stripes in the Museum - I wanted to steal them so badly. I wonder if they are still there...
I'm going to Toronto in Nov - to see Aladdin.

SeashellnBubbles how long have they had a Goodwill by the pound store?? Did they have it before 2006? If they did, I missed it!  :yikes:

As far as pony things to do in TO... does anyone still organize TO pony fairs?  :what: I went to one and a MLP Summer Solstice Meet when I lived there, they were awesome.  :awake:

Ivy, which Museum were the mint ponies in? The ROM? Do you remember which section of the museum they were in? I can't believe I've never seen ponies there before!

Anyhoo, there are a few thrift stores by Warden & Eglinton (as well as a Walmart, Salvation Army, Dollar stores and other shops/outlets :) The Dollarama there had many G3 fakies the last time I checked, if you're looking for them). If you're willing to drive a bit north and out of the city, there's an old Antique shop :) But I can't recall the name of it right now - will update this if I remember!

I think that was the one I just remember it was HUGE- they also had an eagle eye flight simulator thing and a bunch of other interactive stuff - I was still in High School so it was quite a while ago.

There was a section of Child Development toys through the ages - ponies were in with some other '80's stuff.

Oh! Hm... I'm going to assume it was the Royal Ontario Museum, but it could also have been the Ontario Science Centre. Hopefully that was a permanent display. I'll keep a lookout for poor, trapped ponies the next time I go! :P Thanks Ivy!

Uh huh. And when was the last time anyone listened to them and their little pie charts :P

Anyway, the by the pound shop is actually in Pickering, but it's all one big amorphous blob down there that I call Toronto. I never saw ponies at the ROM either but that's not saying much...any time I went it was always Mummies mummies mummies. Stupid pigeon holing public schol. Sad to thing they may be in there now under "80's kitsch" or something.
And why don't we have a pony party in Ontario? Maybe it's time to organize one!!

I would so go to a Pony Party in Ontario - It's just across the bridge for me. Somewhere near Sarnia would be great but I would and have traveled further. :p

Thanks, I should check that out next time I'm in Pickering. ^.^
Would love an Ontario meet (perhaps we could try to find those ponies at the museum? haha) I've always thought we should have our own Pony Fair!

Fellow Ontarian reporting in. My SO and I were planning a trip to Toronto anyways, so having a pony meet would make it even better. :)
