eBay's Global Shipping Program somehow snagged me
« on: June 02, 2013, 08:41:08 PM »
I've been selling on eBay for a while now and selling overseas with no problems until today. I had a buyer from overseas buy 5 of my auctions. I went to send an invoice and only three of those auctions would invoice. The other two would not. I was stymied and have been talking with the buyer all day trying to figure it out. And finally I do. The two other auctions are somehow part of the Global Shipping Program? What? I never signed up for that!

Then I go into some of my other auctions and notice they are clicked into that as well. Of course I unclick that because I don't want the same thing to happen. WTH! Not all of my auctions are like that, only a few, thank goodness. I don't understand. But now, I have to work with the buyer on those two auctions and end them and relist them without them being in the program so that I can link them all into one invoice. What a pain! I'm so angry at eBay right now!

Yeah, almost like a bait and switch. The wording by the checkbox is kinda funny like that.

Best bet, don't click anything. We have been discussing this on a model horse forum, The fees are ridiculous for the buyer. They end up paying more through customs while using the Shipping program then they do straight through the seller.

The thing is, I didn't click them to begin with, so I don't know how they ended up being checked in the first place. But I do use the "sell similar" option so it only takes once for it to affect multiple auctions!

What is the global shipping program? Last time I sold something on ebay I had a hard time getting rid of it ( I didn't want to ship internationally) I wasn't exactly sure what it was, but i was being a pain to get rid of.
