Need help finding this color hair
« on: May 25, 2013, 08:26:20 AM »
Hello everyone. I'm trying to do a custom but I cannot find this hair color.

It is for the pony on the right. I have looked at both Dollyhair and Restoredoll with no luck. All I can find is black or light gray. So I am seeking the help of you wonderful customizers. I don't mind if the hair is a bit dark then the color in the picture as long as it's not black. I'm also fine with dying if anyone has tips on getting this color. Thanks in advance for all you help.

I would try poison ivy or another dark green blend.

what about the color "HEMATITE" it seems like a darker grey bot not totally black.

Yeah, I'd say Hematite, or possibly Raincloud. Neither is exact, but maybe a blend of the two would look good?
I think that would be your best option outside of dyeing.
When the Equestria Girls dolls show up in stores and you end up with unneeded doubles, PM me! I'll buy them!/i]

I would also suggest a blend.  If you want it to be a bit less streaky, you could hand blend each plug.

I can't believe I missed Hermatite. That color might work. I'm not sure I could do a hand blend. I wouldn't know where to begin.

I might try a hand blend if I were you, too- you can get a pretty smooth blend if you blend it with a brush. Fiber loss is a bit more with this technique though.

Hematite is nice, but it is very much on the purple side. Honestly your best bet for a dark grey will be dying. I used some black rit dye over raincloud to get a nice dark grey. I just diluted the dye a little more than usual to make sure it wouldn't get too dark.

I would suggest Hematite, but you could maybe mix it with another color to change to tone of it.

This ^ I've done the very same thing and its what I'd recommend.
