Hair Product Question
« on: May 20, 2013, 08:01:11 PM »
Hi, I am working on my first rehair attempt on a custom I am making for my hubby, and I have a question. I need to get the hair to lay pretty flat against the head, what kind of products do you use to keep the hair where you want it? Hair spray? Gel? Mousse? Something else???

Helps!

I use good old fashioned watered down white glue. that keeps it from being sticky later. I also use a blowdryer on LOW or cool to speed things up and get it right where I want it as well as papers and rubber bands.

You mean glue the hair to the head or your gluing the hair together?

I guess it depends on the style you're going for. Will the hair be long or short?
Are you wanting to achieve a specific style that will always hold the same shape? If so, I've go with BD's suggestion of white glue.
If you want the hair to remain soft and brush-able then water should do the trick. Just wet the hair down, style and let dry. If the hair is going to remain long, you can wrap it tightly around the neck to dry and it should stay flat.

To make the style itself after you root. Inside the head I use Fabri-tac to keep the roots in place. But outside for styling white glue works best, however like Pop said it's not brushable it does harden it (however it can be washed out of needed). Human hair styling products can make the hair sticky, but watered down white glue dries clear and non sticky :)

Ahh ok, I will have to try this, I was worried about it making it look filmy or something. Yes I want to keep the hair in the same place so I will try this. Thank you so much! :)
