I tend to not ever be very fond of SS ponies for some reason :p

My most visible exclusion is probably that I don't like baby ponies. At all. The only one I have is Baby Crumpet, she's an exception because of the tea theme and the fact that I love the adult version ("adult version," not "Mama Crumpet").

Adult earthians are best. And Flutters.

I'm finding myself super partial to Newborn Twins lately - I'm going Pokémon on them...  Gotta catch 'em all!  I'm even wanting their accessories, which is totally uncharacteristic for me.   The Glow 'n Show ponies are also on prime display territory at the moment, along with all my neon-bright girls.  I must be jonesing for my misspent eighties youth.

However, there are no Perfume Puff ponies in my herd (I don't like my own poofy hair, sorry girls), nor Drink 'n Wet babies (though the comedic potential is amazing...).

I tend to avoid so softs mostly because I'm terrified I'll ruin them! Any I have in storage are wrapped up in padding and fabric... I much prefer deflocks! So my guilt is pointed the other way, it's why I don't have them, rather then because I don't have them.

Well, rainbow dash is my favorite. This is weird because I actually prefer unicorns. Most of the ones I have are unicorns. Then my second favorite group is earth ponies. So I have no clue why a pegasus is my favorite pony. I would love to have Rainbow Dash as a unicorn, but then it would take away part of her personality since she is known for her fast flying. I guess I like them all!

With my G1's I'm partial to TAF's (or any pony set with extended symbols ... Rockin beats, Sunshines) and TE's. Probably because I never had those as a child (my family bought me a lot of baby ponies)...

But with all of those extra symbols and the glittery eyes...
I don't know, they just seem a bit more FABULOUS!!! Don't ya think?

 My herd's pretty varied, actually. There are some sets I know I'll ignore, like the Teeny Tiny babies, the ballerinas, a few others... usually it's not that I dislike the set, but there just aren't any ponies in it who call out to me. I also avoid scented ponies, even though there are a few who do speak to me. I don't like scented toys. :\

 As for leaving out ponies, in my herd I come up with stories for everyone, and how they are all related to each other...but I've had no inspiration for (G1) Cotton Candy! I have no idea what her personality what her personality even is, let alone who her family and friends are! Poor girl!

I have a weakness for unicorns and twice as fancy ponies.  Though I have a pretty varied group I think.
Who do I tend to leave out?...Beddy Bye Eye babies... They look...sort of sick to me. Not gross, I mean, the ponies look ill. It wasn't one of Hasbro's better decisions IMO.

I don't like ponies with holes in e.g. soda sippin' or hard plastic parts e.g. twinkle eyes which is a shame because I think other than the eyes twinkle eye ponies are the best in concept, sculpt and colour. So I own Galaxy even though I don't like her eyes. The exception is wingers, they came out after I stopped collecting as a child and now I just can't afford them. I only have one sea pony, Wave Dancer. She came in a job lot and has a vicious biro mark... but I keep her because I like her little face. I suppose I ought to get her at least one friend.

I get bored of the grooming and food themed ponies and only have a few of each (Bow-Tie, Buttons, Cherry Sweet, Peppermint Crunch, Tootsie) but I like all the weather and night sky ponies. I only have/will have about 50 G1's so I guess I'm really picky. I also don't like the ponies that are too 80's fashiony or with eye shadow.

I mostly collect unicorns and I have recently taken more of a fancy to CP ponies.

I have never had a single sea pony, but that's unintentional. I love sea ponies.

I'm not a huge fan of pink :p most of my ponies are yellow, white, blues and purples!

I have mostly earth too. 
I love white ponies! I have tons of those.

Unicorns are my favorites. TAFs are also a big fave of mine, I'm only missing a few. The ones I don't like are the ones with molding like the ballerina ponies. I also will never have princesses or sea ponies. I don't like either.
