Anyone collect Kenner Shimmers?

I love the prototypes they are cute, and yes I am looking for certain ones of this toy line.

You have extra protos?  Be careful selling them in a lot, might get more if you separate.

Oh no extra protos-  that mermaid that looks like Marina is a custom/re-root.  I had her made before I found the real Marina   The white centaur and baby are also customs-  everyone else is just a regular Shimmer. 

I know I'll be taking a loss if I sell them together, especially since many of the babies I had to collect separately, but I don't really have the time or inclination to deal with that many auctions since I have yet other collections that I am boxing up to sell.  The push is really about space more than recovering what I sunk into them.   I won't be selling any prototypes (I only sold one once, and have regretted it ever since)

These are so cute! Was there a cartoon or something to go with these?

Why were they cancelled? It seems so many cute toys were cancelled in the 80's. Jem too.

The Shimmers were cancelled when Tonka bought up Kenner -

I think Jem was cancelled due to low sales during the 2nd year.

I guess the toy business is and has always been fiercely competitive, and the profit margin is not as big as you might think.

Galactica! What a great lot!

Has anyone curled/styled any Shimmer's hair? I'm finding my little mermaid has a lot of hair and she's so top heavy with it twisted on top of her hair.
