Hornby Flower Fairies or Tonka Star Fairies?
« on: May 02, 2013, 10:14:19 AM »
Does anyone collect these?   If you collect Flower Fairies-  do you also collect the Star Fairies, since they are the same doll?

There aren't nearly as many Star Fairies, but they seem to be less popular than Flower Fairies.  I collected them since the princess and Lavender the winged unicorn were some of my favorite toys as a kid...

I think the rarest from this collection are the flocked "pets", the deluxe Princess SParkle, and the little vanity set.  Oddly enough, ALL of them are up on ebay right now.  They are pretty cheap now too which irks me since it took me many years to finish this collection...

I'd collect the Hornby Flower Fairies- but as they seem to be generally available only in the U.K., the price plus shipping makes them a bit out of reach.

I love how hyper-poseable the dolls are-  and I think their colors and designs are very sweet without being to glitzy  :D

You could certainly fit a few in a lunchpail !

Oh, wow - nostalgia! I had two hornby flower fairies as a kid. I don't who they were , though - one had dark hair and a blue dress/wings, and the other might have been blonde? I think she had a purple dress? Unfortunately I can't really remember.

I also had the garden set for them to play in - it was like a green bowl and I remember the spider-web swings or something....

All of it eventually went out in a garage sale...  :(   (never my ponies though!! I obviously clung onto those!)

The Flower Fairies were a pretty big line I think- alas, I don't know any of them since I am not sure they were ever released in the US.

Do any of these look familiar?  (From ghostofthedoll)

OMG YES!! LOL! Thanks, Galactica!

I totally had Heliotrope and possible Pink - certainly her dress, anyway - but I must have put it on Heliotrope, as I always remember her wearing it. But I did also have the dress Heliotrope is wearing in that flyer.

Oh my... how seriously CUTE are those woodland friends!?

I think I have "Pink" somewhere too- it perplexed me when I learned her name, since she is wearing all blue

The actual Woodland Friends appear to be significantly less cute than the prototype pictures, alas.  Although the mouse and the squirrel are still reasonably cute I guess

Galactica, we seem to keep meeting here!  Yep, I started collecting Star Fairies too a few months ago!     I have all the original dolls now MIB except still need True Love.  Have a deboxed Lavender (love!) and a gently used carriage.  Have deboxed Royal Sparkle and some outfits too.

I saw the animals on Ebay.  I know they're rare, but these look a bit roughed-up, so I'm not sure if I'm interested or if I should wait for nicer ones, even if it might take a while.

Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

I actually have an extra Swan!  Finally upgraded to MIB recently.

Unfortunately, unless they are MIB the pets always look rough.  It took me years and years to find them-  I think they are not often recognized as "Star Fairies" items unless they are still MOC.
