Getting tail back in, and how to make curls?
« on: April 28, 2013, 02:28:50 AM »
I've been trying for almost an hour to get newborn Nibbles' tail back in, but it just won't. I've managed to do it on Dibbles and Noodles after just a few minutes. I'm using these things to keep the tail together: http://www.fotoagent.dk/single_picture/10831/138/mega/kabelbindere.jpg

Any advice appreciated! This is getting on my nerves..  >_<

I use a thin plastic coated wire (like what toys are tied to boxes with) fold it in half, put the folded bit thru the bum hole and out the neck (leaving enough wire poking out the bum to hold onto) open the fold, put the hair in the loop, close it, and pull the wire back thru the bum hole, bringing the hair with it. The zip ties holding the hair together should stop the whole lot from coming back out. Hope that helps

I've got some pictures an a step by step in my tutorial here.
If you don't have a washer using those cable ties instead works :)

Oh that seems much easier than the way I've been doing it. I'll definetly try it next time. I did mange to get it through, but it took a lot of work and my fingers hurt. >_<

I got all these ponies for free and they all need to be fixed. I'm done with the newborns, next up is Satin n' Lace. It's only her hair that needs to be fixed. I'll condition and flat irononing the hair, and then I'd like to make new curls for her. I've never done that before, so advice is appreciated. :) And btw, will the flocking be damaged if it gets wet?

I've got a little on curls in that link above =D
Also I would imagine her flocking would be fine provided you leave her to air dry and don't saturate the poor dear.
I'd try and only wet her hair though and would avoid boiling water, warm will do then shock it into it's curl with cold, air dry and viola.

Wow nice tutorials RJ! They are awesome.

I tend to use a ribbon to feel the tail through and then grip from the other side but those are much better tips!

Good luck getting them cleaned up Sandi - thats a fantastic lot...SS Satin n Lace for free :faint:
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
