The very first purchase I ever made was a pony. I'd saved my one quarter allowance for weeks, and I must have been five or six, and I had just enough to buy Sweet Sundrop. So I carefully picked her out, she was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen, went up to the counter with my parents and... discovered sales tax.

My parents paid the sales tax, but I was addicted from there. They'd already gotten me a few at home, that's why I wanted more, but somehow getting my own was a huge thing.

I've so enjoyed reading these stories  :)

Mine was watching my daughter play with my childhood Cocoberry. I had pulled out my childhood ponies, having always waited for that one day where children of my own might play with them.  My daughter absolutely loved them, and at the risk of sound cheesy, my heart sang watching the joy she was having with them....

...then... as I was combing out the played with hair, wiping a few playmarks off them... I suddenly realised I might not be quite ready for my beloved childhood ponies to be (ahem) possibly ruined

It wasn't long before I started researching and re-discovering mlp on the net, seeing ponies I had always wanted as a kid... and next thing, my girls were compensated with pre-loved G3's while I reclaimed my childhood G1's and began what is now a substantial collection!

I'm so sorry you had to go through that angela22.
I'm glad you are better now. :) I really like what you said about needing to go to a state of mind where things are beautiful, cheerful and simpler. It sums it up perfectly. :)
Thank you for your condolences. I really appreciate it. :)

My defining moment was when cleaning and tidying up all my childhood toys. Me and my sister was doing a super clean-out to sort everything out and see what we could get rid off. We found all our childhood ponies and couldn't really remember their names. We had so much fun finding them again, and since we wanted to remember we found Dream Valley online starting to look for the ones we had. And that was it! We then found the arena, and started to clean them up and then my sister bought me a surprise gift for my birthday (20th-something, can't really remember) and it was Glory. I had baby Glory as a kid and I always wanted my babies to have mothers. I then went on to buy Firefly for my Baby Firefly and the whole MLP nostalgia just flew skyhigh from there ;)
