Sellers on ebay that are rude with questions
« on: April 10, 2013, 06:16:41 PM »
Has anyone encountered sellers on ebay that are rude and suggest that you look at their pictures and refuse to answer detailed questions about their items? I have never in my life ever seen this before but, I encountered this with someone. I was shocked at the lack of manners and professionalism with that person.

I refuse to buy from those people.  I don't give money to aggressive panhandlers and I don't line the pockets of rude merchants with MY money.  It's the only control I have over their business practices that I don't agree with.

Seriously, you are right. I have no intention of buying anything from that person.  I mean very limited descriptions mean nothing to me. You can say that your item is in great condition, that doesn't mean much either.  Can I count how many ponies I have that were described as flawless, mint and in great condition without flaws only to arrive with cancer, mold, scratches, teeth marks and things cleverly hidden in photos?

Not on eBay, but I've run into that here. It's a great way to make me never want to buy anything from them ever.

edit: And it's usually a seller that doesn't have decent photos anyway. If they did, I wouldn't need to ask for further details.

I agree, I feel they are trying to sell something that is not in good condition and they know it.

Yea well for me, even good photos and lots of photos can sometimes be deceptive. I still ask if I have never bought from the seller before.

Wow, this has just happened to me on eBay. I was asking for more photos and they said they couldn't put any up because someone bid. I asked them to send me pictures through email on eBay they said its not possible. I thought eBay changed that but, I guess not.

There is always a way for them to get you more pictures. If they say there isn't they are just being too lazy to do it.

If I encounter this with myself as the buyer, I move on.  It takes all sorts to make the world go round so I don't let it bother to much to be honest. I just tell myself there will be another one available sooner or later.  I suppose I am weird. I guess I just don't have time to argue with these folks if they don't have the time to give me a decent description or post decent photo's. Because 9 times out of 10 whatever it is they don't want to show or tell me about is going to be wrong with it.

I agree with others that it's not worth it to deal with people who won't answer your questions if condition is a big factor for you.

On the flip side of things, as a seller sometimes it's frustrating when you're trying to sell a lot of things at once very cheaply and you get buyers who want a detailed description of every little flaw on every single pony when you've already made it clear that a pony is "TLC" or "bait", or otherwise priced based on condition and provided pictures.  I've had a lot of time-wasters who want a very detailed description, and then end up not buying (or don't even bother to respond) because they were hoping to get a near-mint vintage pony for $2.

Not all non-collectors understand the significance of condition to a collector who prefers items in pristine condition.  In the past I have found it it rather time consuming to ensure I don't disappoint very particular buyers (I'm a less picky collector myself), so I could understand it if non-collectors didn't want to take time to give a detailed description to every collector who asked.  They should at least be polite about it, though.

Urgh, I hate rude sellers. I also hate it when I can clearly see a flaw, and I message them asking for flaws and they deny the thing I can clearly see. If it's individually listed, and described as good, excellent, mint, near mint, etc, I want to know if and what is wrong with it if I'm paying in the appropriate price bracket for that condition pony, and I'm not being ripped off. If I'm paying next to nothing, or it's a bait/TLC lot, I seriously don't care, I get what I get.

I never understand why seller have to hid things. I have had that happen to me many times and it sucks. Do you really think that I am not going to see it when I get the pony in hand or what???  LOL

I resold some of them and took a big lose with money. But I was honest with the buyer to.

As a seller, I definitely try to be nice with all the responses I get - even if the answers are clearly stated in the description or pictures.

And therefore, as a buyer, I have little tolerance for rude seller responses as well.

However, sellers with a lot of items or who maybe do not collect (as others have stated) are likely to be less helpful with flaws since ponies are not their forte.
