Is there such thing as a SSC community?
« on: April 10, 2013, 03:55:42 PM »
So...

I've noticed over the years that MLP collectors are really organized.  Like, ninja-guerilla-troops organized.  We have amazing collecting sites and forums and social networking and conventions...

So I'm wondering... wasn't SSC just as big as MLP?  And if so... where are all the SSC collectors?  Do they have some very secret forum in the backroads of the cyberspace where they all hide out?  They seem to be a very elusive and secretive breed...

This is the site I used when I was getting my checklist together for collecting SSC:

http://www.strawberry-shortcake.net/collectorsguide.htm

The forum there is defunct apparently though. I'm not aware of anywhere else. I think the fandom is split up/fractured a lot more than MLP, where there's only one other message board (MLPTP) for MLP. SSC has several boards and collectors sites but not one massive one. at least that was my experience when I was heavy into collecting them. Now that I'm done my collection I don't know as well.

when  I googled some info this was the only active/user friendly forum I came up with:

http://www.strawberrysforeveryone.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=59

hope that helps, like I said, I basically relied on forums like here at the arena and blue buddies, when I was collecting, because they were more active, as far as I know there isn't one massive SSC site

Hi I belong to the strawyberrys for everyone. There are lots of collectors but I am not sure if the different eras of SSC being made by different toy maker effects it or not. MLP has been Hasbro baby forever. And so for SSC collecting we often have long spells when we are like what is up. But news it there is going to be yet again another toy maker. For some reason Hasbro is not making SSC anymore. Which is too bad I like the 5.5 size personally never collected the small hard heads.

I think MLP was so organized because there was just sooooooo much stuff to keep track of.  It's still active because you can never really be done collecting ponies (as long as you want to keep going).  Even if you finish your Americans, there are always Euros, nirvanas, and accessories to hunt down.  I guess SSC has had several production runs too, but I think ponies still have them beaten pretty easily for near-continuous production over the last 30 years.  Since there's so much more, pony collectors just never get bored.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.
