Laying down roots for finding childhood toys
« on: April 09, 2013, 12:44:08 PM »
So, I've started looking up toys that I loved as a child besides MLP and Care Bears, and apart from eBay (which can be kind of hard to get a fair price on), I'm not sure where to look for specific toys. I thought perhaps some of you kind folks here might be able to help me with a few toys that I'm looking for-- where I might go about searching for them, should I want to start collecting a few of them.

- Nosy Bears (not positive I need them yet, but I'd be looking for Popper and Twinkle)
- Kenner Shimmers (really want a few of these. I have a couple)
- Yum Yums (really want a few of these which I had when I was little)
- Cupcake dolls (I think I had one or two of these. Weren't they scented?)
- Wish World Kids (Really really want some of these. I had almost all of the first releases when I was little)

Are there any good resources for general vintage toy collecting?

Search for: Ghost of the Doll

It's a brilliant site with loads of older toy info!

I have been looking at that site a bit, yes. :) Very useful. Maybe I should take a look a bit further at it...

You should check out eCRATER if you haven't already! I myself have a shop with a lot of 80s/90s toys (note my sig) and there are tons more to be found there. Also, shameless plug: I have a Wish World Kids set for sale, though it's missing the doll and several accessories. But if you're interested, it's listed here on the Arena under my 'toys for sale'. =)

Wish Worlds!  I had most of those. They were fun!  I sold them all for super cheap at a yard sale though.  I remember getting them all from the Christmas Tree Shop long after they had gone out of regular stores. My favorite was the pool!

Ooh, the Wish World set is tempting, and you have Grams Bear! I'm not buying at least until payday but I'll bookmark. Thanks! :)

You can sometimes find good deals on vintage toys on Etsy. I have bought some MLPs and Shimmers there!
