First custom ever!
« on: April 02, 2013, 01:18:09 AM »
Everrrr. And it'd be the last custom ever. I'm not artistic D: I found this extremely baity Peach Blossom with a horrible flower and regrind and bite marks and marks everywhere. I opened it up out of curiosity and gunk and dirt inside! UGH! So I got bored and did a quick custom as an experiment. I didn't use the plugs. Just glued on hair. I'm too lazy and again, just an experiment to see how it'd turn out. It took an hour to do the eyes and I still didn't get them right.

This is Ocean Rose. I was aiming for my OC but that flower was attached to the pony *sigh* Don't laugh at it <3

I like her colors! And eyes are terribly difficult for me too! That's my least favorite part to do!

I think if you try again with a less baity pony you might enjoy it more. I try to avoid full body painting so for you to go and do on a first try it looks great. I like the name

Eyes are definitely hard-  I think practice and a good tutorial are useful!  I find it useful to put a regular pony right in front of me... (but I'm still practicing)

Your paint looks pretty clumpy so you might want to water it down ? It looks like hair or things got stuck in the paint?  Maybe a better paintbrush would help?

The glued on hair isn't great, I have to admit-  but re-rooting is surprisingly easy with the re-root tool!
You've probably seen the VERY useful tutorials stickied to the top of the forum-  here are some more...  addressing everything from re-rooting to painting...http://www.aikarin.com/mlp/customs/customtutorials.html

What a great start!  Getting the feel of the materials is the most important step!  I love how you incorporated the existing flower into your overall design, way to improvise!

I know the glued on hair looks horrible.. I didn't have the things to reroot or the hair. I was experimenting. I got told by one of my friends that the paint I used must of been cheap acrylic and said to go for Micador paint XD Thanks for the link and advice ^_^

I use Jo Sonja paint and love it - most craft shops and spotlight sell it :) I like the hair, gives the pony a cool spike!!
