My first sun fading attempt. Advice appreciated!
« on: March 16, 2013, 02:57:29 PM »
I recently received a grubby Princess Tiffany in a pony lot I purchased.  I got all the tangles out of her hair and she cleaned up better than I expected, except she has some ink stains on her body that I couldn't get out using a magic eraser.

I think I have her all ready for sun fading in my windowsill.  I have the colored gems on her symbols, her eyes, and her blush protected with sharpie colored on top of saran wrap.

Do I need to protect the silver on her symbol or her hair since it is already white?  Please let me know if there is anything I'm doing wrong.

Since she kind of creeped me out with no eyes and I didn't want to freak out the neighbors, I made her some temporary paper eyes.  Much better...right?

I've had the sharpie-over-cellophane not work out so well for me before, so I'd check on her every so often.

Ok...first...second picture = scary :P

I agree cover her hair but no her symbol will be fine in the sunlight and check under the saran wrap depending on how long she is exposed. Plastic sweats and you dont want there to be any risk of the colour leaking through.

Good luck! I cant wait to see the results.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

On poor sweet Princess Tiffany!  Absolutely wrap up her hair and sun fade away:).  I'm really happy that you want to undertake this project.  Best of luck with her and post pictures when she's finished:)

Placing her on a mirror will help get at those angles that aren't facing the sun if you haven't already done so :) I also find I have to rotate my ponies quite a bit to make sure every inch gets a good amount of sun exposure.
