Hahaha! I've never taken a dressage test, but I've had my share of mishaps at hunter/jumper shows. One horse did an amazing 'airs above the ground' routine before dumping me and charging off back to the trailer. We never even made it over the first jump!

Never done dressage, but our horse would likely do the "trip over own two feet, stop and eat ignoring everyone completely" routine.

I have don this exact thing except change "trip over own two feet" to "Do bronco impression to ditch rider"

Oh my gosh!
This reminds me of when I used to do shows at the fair when I lived in New York. I never did dressage, but we did some test that was like dressage in a western saddle, and OH BOY, that seems like exactly what happened. (It didn't help that my 4-H leader/riding instructor signed me up for the class without my knowledge, and gave me no instruction on it o__o )

My Thelwell experience ... 'get spooked by a bicycle you've seen a hundred times before and bolt, dumping rider in a handy pile of lopped tree branches'

Luckily, this wasn't in front of a judge, friends, family or or one hundred other spectators

I see it... Can you see it too...?

I had a very similar experience... but at a gymkhana...

We must have looked pretty intimidating, as my mare was the smallest in the group, and had been having blue ribbons thrown at her all day... so everyone was watching intently! We got to the last event, and she just decided enough was enough, and threw a complete spaz, and then refused to move an inch. I actually had to get off her and drag/push her away from the start box once the judge had had enough and disqualified us... embarrassing! Not to mention we had to have several friends practically carry her into the float...
