Clawdeen is a great doll! But sitting here looking at all the dolls it dawns on me... Where the heck is her tail? Why does she not have one? all werewolfs Ive seen have some kind of tail (I think) Am I the only one that has ever pondered this?  :lookround:

i have wondered why she didn't have one too....but then I think of the Lycans in the Underworld series....they don't have tails....so I guess no tail on a werewolf isn't so odd

Maybe they just decided to not give her one and wanted to make her more human-like? I think it would be pretty annoying trying to put clothes on a doll with a bushy tail. I know it bothered me when I put clothes on my Space Jam Lola Bunny doll from Mickey D's when I was a kid.

I don't think Werewolves ever had tails at all, only the werecats. (...Unless I missed something this whole time. >,<;)

I've always been sad that the MH werewolves don't have tails.  It's not really odd though; when it comes to werewolves in general it seems like the more bestial types are the ones with tails and the more humanized ones often don't have them.

At least they gave the catgirls tails.  Just wish they were all bendy like the original Toralei's.

Werewolves don't traditionally have tails actually. In folklore, it's said to be one of the ways to spot one from a real wolf. :) Werecats don't seem to share this rule though.

From Wikipedia:

The appearance of a werewolf in its animal form varies from culture to culture, though it is most commonly portrayed as being indistinguishable from ordinary wolves save for the fact that it has no tail (a trait thought characteristic of witches in animal form), is often larger, and retains human eyes and voice. According to some Swedish accounts, the werewolf could be distinguished from a regular wolf by the fact that it would run on three legs, stretching the fourth one backwards to look like a tail.

I think part of it may be that the first releases were designed to be much simpler monsters. First wave Clawdeen didn't even have clawed hands at the time, instead they used the more human hand mold. As Monster High has gone on, the designs and molds have slowly gotten more and more complex. I think with the tails, it would be too big of a change from the original design for them to do, but I have wondered before why the werecats have them and not the werewolves.
