Any advice for correcting a G1 pony that can't stand up?
« on: February 14, 2013, 06:50:27 AM »
Hello,

I received a gorgeous Firefly yesterday in amazing condition...all apart from she cannot stand! The seller did tell me this and I didn't mind as shes in such good condition otherwise.

I have noticed that Pegasus ponies can have this problem due to their pose...they all tend to get a weird bend (visible line) at the end of one of their legs too!

Haven't really had this problem before so I am hoping people that have could help me out :)

Thank you to all those that reply!

Yeah, it's an annoying problem. I get it a lot with my Buttons-pose unicorns too, something about having the raised leg I guess.

What I normally do is to put the legs in hot water till they soften a little, and then stick something like a folded up toilet roll inner between the legs so that they are in the position I want. Then I just leave the pony with the prop between its legs for a few weeks.

This has worked for me so far.  ;)

Ah cool thank you very much! I will make sure that I try that! :)

Yeah I think it definitely has something to do with the raised leg (couldn't think of the word in the first post lol)

I'll probably post about it if it works! As it has for you then it should for me too :)

I have a Half Note (the one in the Posey pose, not the baby) who will stand but she actually leans. I don't have this problem with my other Posey pose ponies, and I can't figure out exactly what her deal is. :/ She's also smaller than my other ones, so maybe it was just an issue with the mold or something.

I think sometimes when they are in storage for a while, their legs get squished a bit out of position and for some moulds this means they lose their balance easily.

The hot water trick is perfect and will help the plastic reform in to its original position. What also helps is once you have the leg where it should be, support it in this position [whether that be stuffing kitchen roll or soft curlers under her tummy and between her front legs, and then put her in the freezer! Its better to get the plastic to hold to go from super warm to super cold as quickly as possible. I always leave them in the freezer for 3 to 4 days and then voilĂ  she should be in a perfect pose.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I have the same problem with my Italy Confetti. I can't use the hot water trick because I cant figure out which part of her is out of position!

Its not so much freezing her as once she is out she would of course "defrost" :P

Its more that it helps quickly set the plastic again in its memory.
