My Whizzer and Baby Sparkle Firefly are hard as rock. Baby Firefly is more orange than pink too.

I purposefully didn't put in who it was, but you guys nailed it! It's Skyrocket! I have both her and the sparkly one, but she's so much harder!

Right, but I also have Sweet Stuff, Gingerbread, and Party Time who are all TEs and quite hard, but not so hard that they would kill you if someone chucked them at you, like Sky Rocket is.

Maybe it's her color too?

I'll second Party Time turning into a rock. I've sold a few of her and all of them were solid. I really do think it's the pose. Perhaps the plastic is thicker? I haven't de-headed any ponies (because I'm lazy!), so I couldn't say that for sure.

I need to go home and check my Sky Rocket now. XD

Some of mine are harder than others (as mentioned the TEs & Sparkles) - not on topic but I also have some 70s Barbies whose faces have got quite hard too.

As to wanting to know when you buy I suppose newer collectors (like me!) may not know that certain ponies' plastic is harder than others - I was told by someone I bought a pony from when I asked a question about something else.

Edit: I think the thread title just clicked

Haha, I was going to say the same thing! My other Gingerbread pose TE are hard too, but Sky ROCKet is more rock than plastic :P

Yup, my Sky Rocket is hard too!  Poor girl, she's one of my fave ponies. And since I love TEs, Gingerbread pose and purple ponies, sounds like I'm pretty well doomed when it comes to unstable plastic! But I honestly don't mind it, as you can't really tell on display. I would mention it when selling, though. :)

*cough* lets remember the PG-13 rating of this forum please :P

And as Ivy says I think its probably to do with this particular pose - perhaps less plasticiser was required for the pose to be moulded or perhaps due to the eye gems the ponies had to be a thicker or less flexible plastic.

Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

I'm so slow today I didn't get the joke until I read this sentence.

So very interesting to me that there are G1 ponies out there that are more like brick houses than pony toys.
