Thinking about selling my entire pony collection. Any thoughts?
« on: February 13, 2013, 07:31:58 PM »
Also is this in the right section?
I am just getting bored with them. I don't play with them anymore and i feel like i need the money more than the ponies..

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on the easiest way to do this?
Small lots? Singles?

I have over 100 ponies mostly G3, a little G1 and G4 ponyville ponies

well you could always do a sales thread on thre.   and   sel them  as g1  g3 and so on. you could sell them singley  or you could  sell them as a lot. g1 lot g3 lots.  that sort of thing. i think it depends  on how quickly yu want them gone. and how much you want for them.  i dont think many  g3s go for that much..

it all depends on what ponys you have. and the condition.  if thre in good condtion they'll  be worth more then say  ones that  are staiend  have marker   regrind cancer all those htings.

Hello!  Other members have posted with similar questions/concerns before, so you're not alone.  Most people usually advise that you go slow in case you have regrets.  I personally have a very small collection (15 ponies), and I LOVE it . . . maybe think about which ones (if any) you really love and sell the rest.  Then if you decide you're really done, sell what you've put aside.

Most G3s aren't worth much, so I'd do lots unless the ponies are especially sought after/valuable.  Remember that your time is valuable--listing ponies singly takes a lot of work, plus you have to package and ship them all singly, and handle all those messages . . . anyway, something to consider!

Best wishes and best of luck!

Looking for CF Minty, excellent condition! (and maybe Snuzzle and Blue Belle)

yeah..  a lot of  people recommend  that  if there going to sell then put them in a box  out of your  sight  away for a few weeks and see how you feel. about them  being really gone. you shouldnt get rid of them if your going to regret it.. but  myabe like vale of spring has suggested pull a few favorites you love.  maybe just downsizing would be good?

I downsized from over 150 ponies down to less than 30. I sold them individually and in lots depending on the value. When going through my collection I had a "sell", "maybe" and "keep" pile. With the maybe pile I held onto them for a while and checked their value.

The ponies I kept were either sentimental or I really, really liked their design. Later on I've found that I'm selling ponies from my keep pile as well, but only a few.

G3s unfortunately hold little value at the moment so I sold them in lots of 3 to 6. I organised the lots by colour (it's eye-catching), theme or year of release. It's only worth selling the rarer G3s individually.

We all go threw this time to time. I had a hug collection at one time and then sold almost all of them off. Now I am back and started to collect again. I am at 254 right now and have a big lot of 2o of them on ebay right now. I do not like to have doubles, I see it as a waste of money for me.

If you do not know what you want to do then put your most favorite ones away. That is what I did and I am happy that I did that :)  I wish you luck on what you do. If you do sell some put them on here. Ebay is a pain and it takes forever and they take alot of your money!!! GRRRRRR

You are in the right place :)

As others have said, dont worry this is something a lot of collectors go through - some of them come back to collecting and some of them find something else to spend their money on!

I think the key is to go slowly at the start if after selling a couple of dozen you are not missing them then you would probably be able to sell them as fast as people buy. Also I would recommend you hang on to a couple you particularly are fond of - they will serve as a great memory. And that you start sales with ponies you are least attached to.

You could go all out and picture every pony, upload them to a site like photobucket and then link to that in the sales forum. Or you could go in batches of 20-25 at a time - sell most of those and then move on to the next batch. For the former you may sell bulk faster as people are often interested in "lots" when it comes to G3 as it helps save on shipping but the speed with which you may need to keep up with questions and shipping could be crazy.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go. But even selling your ponies I hope you stick around the boards!

Definitely keep your most favorite ponies, and just sell the ones that aren't as important to you.  Then later, if you decide you don't want to keep the others, you can sell those too.
