What do think ponies live in?

I'm writing an MLP fanfiction (Not just G4, all generations) and everytime I do, I never know what to call their houses. Cottages, stables, houses? xD I mean if you look at the toys yeah there's Paradise Estate and the fancy castles, even boutiques and restaurants but... Did they ever address what actual pony HOUSES would be called? xD I remember in G3 cartoons they looked kind of like cottages but some of em were also wonky shapes and stuff...

What would I call a pony house?

Edit: And what would the other breeds live in? Fairies? Flutters? Seaponies? Mers? I kinda expect the fairy types (including flutters) to live in giant toadstools, would the water breeds live in reefs or coral homes? I guess I can kinda play around with that one.

I would just say a house. Fairies live in flowers, flutterponies probably live in tree houses, and for seaponies and merponies, you could try reef coves or giant seashell houses.

I seem to remember that the G2s from the Friendship Gardens game lived in small houses.

My seaponies lived in an aquarium I made out of a shoe box    I had lots of little coloured fish dangling on cotton thread inside to make it look like underwater

I've wondered this, too. I wanted to make a comic but I kind of got stuck on dwellings and whatnot. I guess houses make sense. Or some kind of weird barn stable like an apartment almost...

Yeah, I'd go with house. Some ponies live in a specific kind of house (Fluttershy lives in a cottage, for example), but most seem to live in plain ol' houses, in all generations.

Unless, of course, they're special enough to live in a castle!

I think house but then I really like stables, barns, and castles alot better.

In G1 everyone seemed to live in Dream Castle, unless you had a special home [i.e. Lemon Drop or Peaches]. Always reminds me of medieval times when everyone lived in or immediately outside a large central castle

However, if you wanted ponies to have separate homes, I agree "houses" probably makes the most sense

Hmmmmm.

Well, I know a fair amount of medieval facts so I've come up with a little thing.
There would be a small village-like grouping of houses surrounding Dream Castle. That would be where the regular ponies could live. When danger or an invasion was present, they'd evacuate to Dream Castle.

The other races would probably live in little houses built in ways that would be natural for their biome. So, sea ponies could live in underwater caves, grottos or shells. The flutter ponies might live in little gazebo-like structures covered in flowering ivy and open to the air. For some reason I always thought the glow 'n show ponies and the sparkle ponies would live in caves...

I think they live in bunkers like doomsday preppers to hide from the coming apocalypse.

but seriously, I think houses, castles, the normal words would work for a fanfic. It's not like there is some unwritten rule out there that says you have to use one word over another.

 I think when I was a kid, I think my ponies just frolicked in the fields all the time, maybe slept in gerbil-like piles, or maybe under the trees if it rained...whatever wild horses do, I guess. But probably My Little Pony characters would be more than capable of building -at the very least- shacks or lean-tos to live in. Aren't the Big Brother ponies able to operate trains and trucks?? And Pegasi would totally live in the clouds!

I pretty much think it's just houses apart from special cases like in G1 - Lemon Drop living in the Show Stable (though it was Megan and TJ's Stable in Rescue At Midnight Castle), Twilight living in the clouds in the UK storybooks, Majesty and friends living in Dream Castle etc...

G3 seems to be each pony having their own house in A Very Minty Christmas

G4 obviously varies with the cottage, Library, Boutique, cloud mansion, barn and rented room

G1's live in a technicolor cartoon land where new buildings specifically named by Hasrro marketing directors just magically appear out of nowhere. I like that they live in Dream Valley and reside in Paradise Estate. The buildings have such specific names that whatever you go with as long as it describes what you're talking about should work. Hope that made sense. Bushwoolies live underground?
