Good glue to use (UK if that makes a difference)?
« on: February 03, 2013, 01:44:54 PM »
Hi,
So I have time on my hands and have been thinking about messing about with some doubles I have.
They are G3 and my plan would be to eventually attach diamonte/crystal/gems to the bodies. However I was wondering what the best way might be to go about this.

Is super glue going to be better than PVA, or something else? I don't want something that will just cause the gems to drop off after a short time, but I don't want something that will eat the plastic because it's too strong (if that's even possible).

I'm not very good at trial and error, I like it to be pretty good first time , so I would love to hear what you more experienced guys use or suggest.

Thanks ^_^

I want to know this, too. I'm also interested if anyone's tried E-6000 glue? I just got some, having had it recommended to me and it feels a lot like rubber cement. I'm kind of hesitant to put it on a pony though...

I tend to use tacky glue for that sort of thing myself.

I use a super glue on a tooth pick but me being in the states I wouldn't even know what you could get in the UK.

That's still cool. Thanks for the advice. I was leaning towards some sort of super glue type thing myself.

If you can get it there, the best I have found is: Loctite Super Glue Gel Control. It is so easy to use and the gel consistancy makes it easy to just get enough on your toothpick to ensure the gem will stick without a white ring around it (i call this ring - the white ring of death). I also use this to glue on heads when it is necessary. Haven't ever had anything come off when using this glue.

I agree with JoshsPonyPrincess.  I use the Loctite brands of glue and apply them with a cocktail stick so you have full control.  Just out of interest I found some Loctite in Halfords sale for 50p and £1 so it may be worth you looking there.
