If you choose "friends & family" the recipient does not get charged any fees; if funds come from existing $ in PayPal or your bank neither party gets a fee, but if you use a credit card, the fee is on the buyer's end.

If you choose "goods & services" the fees are on the seller's end, no matter what type of funding is used (existing PayPal funds, bank account, or credit card).

Now, I wonder, which option is in general used, when trading on Arena. My problem with "friends and family" is, that this option is not covered by Paypal's purchase protection. Though I'm aware, that I'm exposing the seller to additional fees ><

I never use "gift" when buying nor do I ask anyone else to when I sell.  I also think its impolite to ask someone to pay your fees for you.

but I don't know what is covered and what isn't.

PayPal is a great service and I don't mind paying their small fees. ^_^
