explain eye chips

haha iv possibly asked this before but i cant find my post or the thread that i posted it TO..

I'm doing a custom MH, im putting this here because i thought eye chips were more all around DOLL related and my question isnt specifically MH related. except i cant remember what someone said would be a good size for MH dolls.

aside from that, id like to know how these work, i dont own any dolls at the moment aside from MH so im clueless.

id LOVE pictures. (not of eye chips please dont spam this with pictures of your dolls xD)
but if its possible could i see the inside of the dolls head? i just have no idea how theyre installed and apparently removable and interchangeable, is this even something i could do with a MH or would they be permanent.

I think with MH you could use glass eyes. Which aren't a chip but a full eye. I'm not sure what size you would need.

this is the inside of my BJD with glass eyes. They're held in with a substance called putty. Its slightly "sticky" and keeps the eyes from falling out.

I would think putting eyes in a MH would be somewhat permenant. You'd have to cut holes for them and probably cut a flap in the head in order to install them. You'd probably have to use a wig after that, you wouldn't be able to reroot her scalp I wouldn't think.

I've been wondering this same thing.  Thanks for the pics Vertefae; I wouldn't have guessed that bjd eyes are just stuck in with putty.

Vertefae thank you SOOOOO much o__o, just seeing pictures explains so much! i had no idea blythe eyes worked like that? and now i finally realize why they have a pull string xD thats so neat!

also Aeryala thats incredibly helpful, not to mention theres "like its" and shes linked off to even more MH customizing tutorials. i will definietly be browsing these for a while. >

I plan  on using a cam head for this, so I think i can get away with just cutting out that hard plastic cap in the back as an access point. wow I'm supper excited now xD  thanks guys!

Aeryala thats perfect, i never even considered that it might be harder to find something to stick to the vinyl, come to think of it most dolly heads seem to be made of harder stuff.

My Alexis got eyes I should have beveled a bit more, but the face is so thin and fragile.
